Guys what I do is 1. Open task manager 2. Right click on a task and click open file explorer (it should say something like that) 3. Now you have access to your files just click the one you want to use like Google chrome etc 4. Do whatever until the black screen goes away (takes within 5-60 min for it to go back to normal)

Or Ctrl-Alt-del at loging prompt and select task manager and select "File" then "Run new task" and type explorer.exe in there should bring up your desktop. Might not resolve it permanently but it will help you get in depending on the issue.

If I thought the problem was a graphics drivers, while in safe mode I would have ran DDU to make sure all graphics drivers were completely uninstalled before installing a freshly downloaded driver.

That would be for a corrupt graphics driver issue, no need to do that with a generic Microsoft driver. This issue could be related to a issue like that Oletta and removing it using DDU is always a option.

@@Britec09 Question: I have been installing my GPU driver using Revo uninstaller (paid) because it supposedly monitors all the files/registry changes. Then instead of DDU I just unplug my internet - use Revo to uninstall the driver - and then install the new driver using Revo. Is this method as thorough as the DDU method?

I have this Problem since about 2 months (four, up to eight times a month). Except the fresh installation I tried everything you mentioned in this video. After a normal reboot everything works again. It also helps if I just leave my account and login again. As I see it, it has something to do with the account - interestingly it happens also with the second account on this PC. When I get a black screen with a mouse pointer, that tells me the graphics driver thinks there are 2 screens attached, the one you're looking at and a phantom one that is the main screen you actually want. Quick fix press and hold the Windows key and tap the p key. You might have to do it a few times until Windows switches to the duplicate option. You could try updating the graphics driver afterwards.

Getting ready to try these fixes. My problem differs in that while I have a black screen, I also have a flashing all white task bar at the bottom and a flashing cursor. A couple of times my desktop has suddenly come up, but I cannot use the Window to pull up a file list, nor can I do a search in the white rectangle on the task bar. My first priority is to get my data stored on a USB drive first so that I don't lose 5 years of spreadsheet work, etc. All of this came about with the current Windows 10 update 21H2.

I'm trying to fix this issue myself, so far the only thing that seems to work(temporarily) is the automatic system repair. It's really annoying having to spend an hour letting it try to fix the issue every few days. I really hope my graphics drivers are the problem. Turns out it was an update, damn computer kept redownloading and reinstalling it every time the autorepair removed it. Had to turn off automatic updates but haven't had a black screen since.

@@camellearellano9138 It's been working well for me, I did the startup repair thing until it had the desktop and then I had to go to windows update settings and turn off automatic updates before I connected to the internet so it wouldn't download and install the bugged update again but it hasn't had a black screen since.

@@alexandremouton7169 I can't remember what I did. I think I had to refresh my PC and just cut my losses. Search for some windows registry backup tools for Linux and make a live usb on a different computer. On my next PC I plan to install some version of Linux. Done with Windows problems.
