Enrique, the width of a cat isn't the reason they don't sail as close to the wind - it's the lack of a keel (which is why they can get closer to the beach)

Really? I Was going of surfing concepts and getting closer to the wave. I figured the wider nose has more surface area thus creating slower turns. That has no play in this scenario what so ever?

@@MrKeekseeks I've no idea about surf boards, sorry. But keels, or lack of them determine how close cats sail to wind. Some cats use dagger boards, they sail closer than those that don't.
