As I recall when you purchased this cat or were looking at another, you were concerned about not being able to see Port side from helm for docking. Another cat owner/YTuber, Sailing Dauntless, has the same concern and in their Feb 19 episode began installing an Amcrest security camera on a mast spreader so they can see port side via a screen.

I used to race 'beach' cats... part of getting them to change direction... in a light wind it's much easier to jibe if you can rather than go about. And when you turn the rudder, I found it more like steering a car... if you jammed the rudder hard to one side, like you would for a rapid turn in a monohull it would often just carry on going forward... but if you turned a bit at a time it would do as it was asked.

Regarding broken chartplotter screens. A fellow Ytuber "Trying not to Sink" about 1+ yrs ago did video on using a $125 15" monitor screen from Amazon that operates off 12v that he tied into his navigation system/Ipad/phone with Navionics. Not waterproof but fine for Nav station or backup with waterproof case. Glad to see cat sails ok in light and heavy winds. I still think some type of helm enclosure or auxiliary wheel and instruments at salon aft bulkhead is an idea for bad weather.

Lobster night in Anse La Roche is the best! For us, the hike to the peak behind Anse La Roche reveals one of the best views in the islands, after Saba of course! Curious if they still had Rivers’ picture on the wall in the office when you hauled out?

Have a great voyage north. After a 3.5 year search we bought our dream boat and will be sailing it back to Florida from St Lucia at the end of March. Hope to see you out there someday.

And let the boat projects begin. Y'all look like your really settling in to your new boat. Getting a feel for how she handles and loving it all. I would prefer a newer boat my self just because I am a little wider than most but still there is something to be said about the style of those older boats. Also not a fan of that rather exposed helm position. Still I think y'all got a beautiful boat. Also need to check out one of your audio books. You got a great voice for doing that kind of work. Have you done any fantasy or Sci-Fi?

Nice video! Curious why you did not clean the bottom while at anchor? Was it too cold or dirty to clean it?
@SailAwayVlog
@SailAwayVlog Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I did actually clean it once, but the Coppercoat bottom was really shot. Made for some tough scraping. After that we knew we’d be hauling out at the end of hurricane season so I very much put it off knowing the power wash fee would be money well spent. Lol.

Tyrell Bay? Suppose Paul Erling Johnson's boat, Cherub?, is still there? Maybe they gave him a Viking send off?

What do you consider pretty old on the engines, I have diesel engines with 15 to 23 thousand hour running perfectly fine. If maintained they are awesome.

I would look into a Mantis 125 lb anchor. Since you will be taking this boat into many places that anchor will save your boat. Also I bet you lost 1-2 knots from your carpet bottom.
