British armoured troops storm treelines & cross rivers in chilling mass NATO war exercises in Poland

Crack British troops built a river crossing in minutes after seeing soldiers slaughtered when similar drills go wrong in war.
The exercise in Poland was part of Nato’s largest war game since the end of the Cold War.
Challenger 2 tanks joined hundreds of armoured vehicles crossing the Drawa River on British amphibious barges.
Royal Engineers took 18 minutes to launch a dozen M3 Rigs - trucks that turn into barges - and lash them together to form ferries.
Each ferry carries up to 190 tons of cargo - or two fully loaded Challenger 2 tanks.
Nearby US troops took more than about assemble a pontoon bridge.
It comes after Russia lost countless troops and armoured vehicles when a crossing was hit by Ukraine’s artillery.
Major Ryan Ingram, boss of the 23 Amphibious Engineer Squadron, said: “The Russians got it wrong.
“We want to be in and out before we are even seen.
His barges took 45 seconds to cross the 500ft wide river.
US Army Captain Joel Self, commander of the US bridging company, conceded: “The British rigs are built for speed.
“They can build it and get traffic across as fast as possible.”
If the British ferries come under enemy fire they can separate, scatter and hide along the riverbank within minutes.

Realistically doesn't matter, Russia might be winning in Ukraine, but there military has soften up with the huge amount of losses. Their tank crews alone have severely gone down the drain from losing so many men they are hiring teenagers with barely 6 months training to crew up tanks...

It's hard for Britain to have good military, when you gave up your colonies that gave you the power and resources in world war 2 and world war 1, and manpower, also 1988 is still post world war 2 time, when you had more manpower income, because you overally had more children, so yeah it's no wonder. Britain is going to go downhill, the reason why Britain was so powerfull before was because of colonies, not Britain itself.

@@EgipskiKocur That, but also the fact that we were the worlds first industrial power. The industrial revolution was started, led and driven by the British, in Britain. It created a globalised connected world (for the better or worse). I guess now as a direct result everything has become increasingly outsourced which has killed British industry. The British actually lost money on the colonies, bar supplying some of the raw materials needed to be manufactured inland they didn't attribute to much.

I recall a Ukrainian commander observing that the US's military training wasn't helpful because their expertise over the last couple decades has been on fighting insurgencies rather than fighting a large scale battle on open terrain. He was exactly right. It's nice to see NATO making an effort to shore up these inadequacies.

Why was the USA so successful during the Cold War? It implemented the Marshall Plan to economically strengthen its partners in Europe. The USA was the largest economy and opened its market to the products of its allies. The USA offered its allies a security umbrella with nuclear deterrence through NATO. As a result, America managed to push back the influence of the Soviet Union on Europe and ultimately win the Cold War. The alliance between Western Europe and the USA is proving difficult today. For example, Germany follows a mercantilist economic model and is therefore dependent on cheap energy and large export markets. Russia and China can provide both of these for Western Europe like no other country. The USA, on the other hand, is becoming increasingly less important as an economic partner. And since the collapse of the Soviet Union, there is no serious military threat from Russia to Western Europe. Despite this, tens of thousands of American soldiers are still stationed in hundreds of US military bases and US nuclear weapons on German soil. If you look at the situation objectively from the US perspective, America is protecting Europe from the countries with which it has close trade relations. Europe's core interest, however, is to further expand its economic relations with the USA's biggest competitors. It is clear that the interests of Europe and the USA are no longer compatible and this partnership will soon end.

I agree. We should be training all of our troops in the middle of actual combat from day one. We won't even do any preliminary fitness training first because that is just unrealistic training that you would never find in war... And also we will not train anyone in signals, or even in operation of machinery if there is not a war going on around them because that wouldn't be truly realistic, right? We will not let them fire a weapon in peace times because that is not realistic, right? That is the best way to do it right? Thanks so much for your great input. I work for the MOD, would you like a job? We need guys with the smarts like you have displayed here.

There is no war between NATO and Russia because Ukraine is not a member of NATO. Ukraine cannot become a member while the war is ongoing. Even if the war ends, the approval of 32 Nato members is required for membership.
