Hi mate just wondering about the infantry and I am questioning on joining the RAF regiment or the rifles and wanted to know which one is better . Or if you would recommend another role
@Rangermedia4 жыл бұрын
I really don’t like comparing units as everyone as a particular job to do. The choices there would depend on what you want, if you want the full infantry experience with the choice of all roles it’s Rifles all day. The RAF regiment are an infantry unit but their main role is to protect airfields for the RAF whilst deployed. I just know more about the Rifles as I’m Army and I’ve worked closely with them and know a lot of people serving in them. Still do abit of research on the RAF Reg as the decision needs to be yours as it’s your journey/career.

@Rangermedia4 жыл бұрын
LSA, Is a bonus that gets added on to your wage once you leave for operations or exercises. Each time you deploy on these taskings your Lsa days increase. The more days you have the more money you get. Someone who is just arrived to unit will be on a much lower band of LSA than someone who has a few years of deployments behind them, either on ops or exercise. There are more bonuses available, just to many to list here.

Can you join the infantry if you have mild asthma that doesnt concern you when you exercise?
@Rangermedia4 жыл бұрын
The rules around Asthma have now changed with getting in, of the top of my head I think it’s 12-24 months clear from having to use prescription medicine or inhalers for it and your good to go. There will be a lot more detail over on the Army’s official sites .

Are these the kind of units a C.M.T. would be attached to? Also now the Army has all roles open to females do you think they'd prefer/prioritise a male C.M.T. to one of these units rather than a female C.M.T.? Also thanks so much for making these videos there so informative,and have given me the motivation to apply after I started (and was told by family members) I was too old,I'm 28 so I know time isn't on my side,but I've wanted to be all soldier since I knew what a soldier was! I then got really Involved in first aid with my job at but it interested me so much i went on to get more qualifications, I fear that I may fail the medical though, after going through a really traumatic event years and years ago I developed panic attacks, depression and there was a mention of P.T.S.D. I was put on medication but mentally now I feel fine. Am I wasting my time? I'd be so ashamed of they looked at my medical records and just thought I was taking the mick. Thanks for your time

To become a lieutenant do you have to go through the sandhurst academy
@Rangermedia4 жыл бұрын
Yes all British Army officers start of their journeys in Sandhurst. After commission, they will then move on to conduct any training specific to their chosen trades. So for example Infantry officers will then move to Brecon to take on the platoon commanders battle course

Is it hard to become a British army officer in the royal engineers. What do you think about the royal engineers commandos I plan to join them when I'm 19
@Rangermedia4 жыл бұрын
Lowestsnow 1 It all depends on how you get on during your time in Sandhurst. Engineers are a good unit yes.

How is the reserve infantry different to the regular infantry ?
@Rangermedia4 жыл бұрын
They wont have a specialist role, they will be light role. Then the difference is, its just part time . You can get attached to a Regular unit for deployments but need to seek the time of with your normal employer.

Would going light protected mobility infantry be doing the same type of role as going light cavalry in armoured corps? I can’t decide on which I would rather go for, any information would be a real help.
@Rangermedia4 жыл бұрын
I think light cav potentially have warrior, not 100% though. So light mech you have the Foxhound as the main vehicle used mostly by the Rifle coys then there’s quads, jackals, coyotes, husky etc. You will do more on feet stuff as well as the vehicles than what light cav would.
