I first met Atif in early 90s when I was visiting my parents and when was memorizing Quran near to my parents house I admired his voice way back then. I gave him a 100 dollar bill and was so thankful. I didn't realize that he'll become such an iconic singer. Kudos to his dedication 💖

Hey, just discovered your channel. Loved your intelligent reaction actually because I wasn’t expecting u to know so much about eastern music. So the launch pad thingy is actually called an octapad. The eastern drums are called tabla. And yes, Atif Aslam is a legend and an amazingly talented artist of Pakistan. Abdullah actually not only produced this song but was the associate producer behind all the Coke Studio Season 14 songs. Season 14 has been an innovation in itself since the musical prodigy Xulfi took over it and branded it into his own mould. He had previously produced Nescafé basement seasons. Being a singer/musician himself, he’s created magic by fusing western and eastern influences in music in such an appealing way. Usually, Coke Studio previous seasons would reinvent or tweak existing, older songs/qawalis/folk/Sufi music in a studio setting (all recorded live) but this season was different because Xulfi produced brand new 13 songs through his brilliance. He actually discovered Abdullah in his previous Nescafé basement days (highly recommend you check out his Nescafé Basement songs such as Bol Hu, Abdullah’s Resistance, Larger than life and sweet child of mine versions, and Mehbooba, Fanaa, etc.). Anyhow, for this season, Xulfi recruited the biggest team of brand new musicians mostly and the ones he had previously worked with. Mostly younger talents that he discovered during his Nescafé Basement days and it was refreshing to see them. Along with Abdullah, he discovered Sherry Khattak (another audio assistance / electric guitar player / lead singer of Karokoram band). He also worked behind all songs this season and sang his original song , Ye Dunya. You should definitely check out Ye Dunya and Phir Milenge along with Mehram from Coke Studio 14. It is recorded live the music, insrumnts and vocals you hear are in the same take as the video, thou they have multiple takes/practice sessions before final one which is recorded in one take and ofcourse maybe some post production editings. BTW Atif is the best vocalist of his generation specially in the region and he has got some serious pipes, he is always chill as he said in behind the scenes of this song he started playing cricket between practice sessions and forgot the lyrics lol

They do a live basic recording with the main elements of the song then in post the add in the echos and effects. They are singing live because you can see movement in their throats. They do record vocals for harmonizes to use in the song but other then that it is recorded live. BTW this is what i understood watching the pasoori behind the scenes video.
