I'm from Ohio and we use both almost exactly the same amount. Autumn is usually preferred in writing or in formal settings and Fall used in casual situations with friends and family.

Pumpkins are absolutely wonderful when cooked right. One of my favorite Traditions also, is roasting pumpkin seeds in the fall. One of my biggest pet peeves though is that "pumpkin spice" doesn't actually have pumpkin in it, it's just a traditional sweet spice mix.

Pumpkin Spice is the blend of spices used in pumpin pie. Pumpkin used in cooking is not the same as ones we carve for Halloween.

I live along the Gulf Coast and autumn is pretty great here. It’s the best time of the year weather wise. It’s when our temperatures go down into the 60-70s in the day, maybe 50s at night. Sometimes it gets hotter in the 80s, but even that is a relief from August.

Autumn / fall are used interchangeably. I live in New England, this fall has been like most falls, many sunny days with highs in the 60-70s F and lows in the 40-50s F. The fall colors were very nice this year and are mostly gone now. We are expected to get our first freeze tomorrow night, lows in the low 20s F so, winter is on its way. Cheers!

Long before autumn 🍂 came about, circa the 1500s, the English called the 3rd season of the year The FALLing of the leaf 🍁 where as the first was called Spring of the leaf. Over time the sentences were shortened to just fall and spring Today, it's not a you say that while we say this. Autumn and fall are both used in the US.

Pumpkin pie is amazing and very simple to make with canned pumpkin. You can also buy canned pumpkin pie mix, which has everything needed for your pie except the crust. Serve with fresh whipped cream. This is a very common dessert on Thanksgiving here in the US.

We do not add pumpkin to everything in the fall. We add pumpkin SPICE. That is the specific mix of spices that is used in traditional American pumpkin pie. We put it in coffee, pie, cookies, cakes, syrups and many other things. The mix includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and all spice. Many of us love it. Some don't. So, try it, you'll like it.

In the U.S., Autumn varies quite a bit from one part of our country to the other. You could be wrapped up to handle the freezing cold in the north, and swimming at the beach in Florida

You can’t generalize the weather conditions for the US. It’s just too big in land mass for it to be under any one weather system. That said, New England autumns are probably some of the most beautiful you’ll find. The maple leaves turning and showing off a new flurry of colors is really nice. Never been out there but I’ve seen enough footage.

I live near Chicago and usually our trees change over a couple of months from green to brown. People go to pumpkin patches, bake pumpkin seeds, pumpkin bread, and make pies 🥧 during this season. We even had snowflakes two days ago.

Pumpkin Spice is NOT the flavor of pumpkin. It is the flavor of spices used to make pumpkin pie. So something with Pumpkin Spice only tastes like pumpkin to somebody who’s only tasted pumpkin in a pie - and actually doesn’t have a clue what pumpkins taste like.

When the term "pumpkin spice" is used it refers to the spices used to flavor pumpkin desserts, not pumpkin itself. So if it is added to coffee or lattes for example only the spice is used that includes: cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and cloves.

Cleveland ohio, USA here: we have had a unseasonably warm autumn 🍂 sooo nice, highs in the lower 70s F and beautiful colorful leaves. (Not today tho 🌨) Also I DONT like pumpkin pie and I don't get excited for pumpkin beverages either. I could easily not have anything pumpkin flavored forever and actually I probably won't. BUT I do lovve pumpkins for decorating in fall!!

It's currently -2.2C here in Oregon and the cold weather is barely started. It will like go as low as -23.3 C before winter is over if historical averages hold this year. Something to keep in mind before making your travel plans is to check the typical weather conditions for the areas you are planning on visiting here since temperatures and weather can vary by vast quantities depending upon which states you visit

Huge temp differences and all they need do is a bit of research as to which states are going to be most enjoyable to visit at what time of the year based on their comfort preferences. I know what our weather is like and we are mostly seeing days that might, MAYBE hit 40° for a high and most of our days are mid-thirties. By this time next month we will be luck to get anything above freezing until at least late February. Georgia thinks they are cold if it gets below 60. Quite a difference

Come on down to Louisiana. I can promise you that you will definitely not notice a change in the seasons. The only saving grace this state has is that the humidity drops from 92% to 60 something percent during the mild winter. The summers down here are awful. 90 something degrees with a relative humidity of 89% is something that you will not want to experience. Many times during the Christmas holidays, people have their air conditioners going full blast.

Besides pumpkin pie, another common fall desert is pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, which are one of my favorite kinds of cookies. Also pumpkin bread is right up there for me with banana or zucchini bread. Roasted pumpkin (the way you roast other squash) and roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin cheesecake...Yum! It's a pretty versatile ingredient that we prepare in all sorts of ways, sweet and savory. It is a food that goes hand in hand with autumn as much as (if not more than) apples here in the US. Pumpkin spice flavored stuff is a whole separate category.

When you're near the ocean, autumn can be pretty consistent. When you are hundreds of miles from the ocean, autumn can be very inconsistent, even from day to day, due to the lack of stabilizing water bodies. When we were in northern Idaho, it snowed one Halloween. Short Halloween.

1) I love how at 1:53 Laurence has behind him a Beatles poster that dates from the period when their hairstyles resembled Laurence's wig. 2) Some Americans do get a bit carried away in autumn with adding pumpkin to everything. For years I avoided pumpkin pie, because of the texture rather than the flavor, but I do enjoy it now, as well as pumpkin cake and muffins. I also like some of the pumpkin-flavored beers. I don't like coffee, which is nearly a sin in the U.S., but pumpkin-flavored coffee sounds terrible. 3) I live in Rhode Island, in New England, and we're experiencing the warmest autumn I can remember. At the moment, shortly before sunset, it's a seasonal 10 C (50 F), but 2-3 days it ago it was in the low 20s C (low 70s F) and rained heavily from the tropical remnants of Hurricane Nicole. 4) We do call it "fall" for the most part, but occasionally people will say "autumnal." I don't know of an adjective form of "fall."

Not all of the US gets cold in the Fall. Here in southern Arizona it’s when the summer heat turns off (around Halloween) and we can step outdoors during the day again. 70 F? Oooo it’s almost chilly. 60 F and lower? Time to get out socks to wear with your sandals and sweatshirts.

Great video about autumn in the Midwest. Having travelled through the northern states back in 1999.the foliage i saw and photographed was spectacular. I started from Long Island New York all the way to South Dakota. I can tell you N.Y, Pennsylvania, West Virginia Indiana and Illinois had gorgeous colors. New Jersey, Ohio and South Dakota not as nice. Maybe it was the road i was on US-80. On my way i saw covered bridges and waterfalls babbling brooks and waterfall. It was the wish of a lifetime for me. I am sorry i didn't make it all the way to the Pacific coast. In late October and into November the temperature dropped 30f overnight. I left South Dakota and headed into Wyoming and took the first interstate road i ran into south. Not picking on any state but some of the Northern states are very industrialized and the open patches of Foliage are not as common. In my view having visited 38 states all of them have something to offer. In my view large cities have a lot of amenities to offer but i believe the real America is outside the larger cities. Always love your videos and commentary.

Fall temperatures vary across the USA. The contiguous states vary between sub freezing snow fall to 80 to 90+ degrees Fahrenheit. When I lived in New Hampshire fall started in September, by November we were lucky to see the mid forties. In Florida, Tampa are, where I have lived for 52 years, it can fluctuate. Tonight the lows will be in the fifties. Tomorrow we will be around the 80. The rest of the week warming a bit. This is our dry season, which is odd since most our hurricanes seem arrive during the dry season. Nicole just passed my area to the south. Only had about 2.5 inches of rain. The previous storm, Irma literally passed over my house. Irma and I made eye contact while I took the opportunity to check outside for damage. None to be found. I have experienced 5 hurricanes since 2003. I have been fortunate all 5 times. Winter is weird here. Get to go to work and it is a balmy 75. Leave work the wind 30+ mph not a cloud in the sky and the temperature 40° and still going down 2 days later it is in the 80°'s.

Pumpkin pie is an acquired taste. First tasted when I came to USA at 16 (now 65) I literally spit it out. I would occasionally take a bite now I can EAT A WHOLE PIE. I love it!

It's a bit odd to say "It's colder in America". As you already know, there is a vast difference from region to region in the US. Compare winters in, say Delaware to Honolulu where the coolest month, January averages 27° Celsius (80° Fahrenheit).

I'm from Indiana. And live 2hrs from INDY 33 is pretty nice day in Nov as it could of been snowing since Oct. And I'll have to say Indiana is simply most beautiful during fall and be fo it right as we are surrounded by farms that sell pupkins and farms open up for fall activities of all sorts and you usally dont have to drive far to get to one. There really is. Thing called pumpkin spice season and many people take it very seriously. As for winter will as hebsaid that's another story as It can be normal to have -20 days or lower.

So many people I know from other countries can't fathom how Americans eat "pumpkin" and then they try Pumpkin Pie and their jaws hit the floor--hahaha. I have had friends from France, England, Germany, Australia, & New Zealand all try pumpkin pie when they visited me in America (I met them during a month tour in Europe Summer of 1995). They were all stunned how good it is. It is NOT savory as one might believe. It is light, sweet, & spicy (cinnamon & Nutmeg). Add Whipped Cream on top to kick the pie up a notch.

I live in southeast Colorado and usually by the beginning of November, nighttime temps are already dipping below 32 F/0 C. Just last night, it got to 15 F here. Definitely my least fav part of living here since Im a night owl and like to be outdoors.

In the summer Chicago can get up to a 100ﾟF in the summer Florida Miami and Tampa Bay area's gets up to about 95 too 100ﾟF , (In the summer). In the Winter Chicago can get down below 0ﾟ But Florida will be in the seventies and eighties so you cannot use one temperature zone for the United States, there are many different temperature zones. Alaska, Hawaii, East Coast, West Coast, North continental United States, South continental United States.

To be fair, you guys in the UK don't have winter. Your weather is like the Southern US's and they don't have winter either. At least not by my definition and probably most of the upper Midwest. I don't count it as winter unless there's a couple months of snow on the ground or it gets to below 0 F. I'm not into pumpkin spice things but my guess is that pumpkin pie cheesecake frozen custard is pretty good. I'm going to buy a scoop at Oscar's on Wednesday. Also regular pumpkin pie with ice cream is very good. Pecan and Turtle pie are better though. Turtle pie has caramel, chocolate, and a lot of whipped cream. It's very good.

Pumpkin spice is the spice used *for* pumpkins, there's no pumpkin in pumpkin spice. (Edit: it's like how there's no steak in steak sauce).

I think people mistakenly believe "pumpkin spice" items are flavored with "pumpkin" but it's just the spice mixture used in recipes, like pumpkin pie- cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, etc., so really, it's just a "spice mixture" flavor.
