There were a lot of sections of Walmart that they didn't film in. Automotive, hardware, electronics, arts & crafts, school & office supplies, shoes, baby clothes & strollers, pet foods & accessories, alcohol, any of the sporting goods except for the firearms--camping gear, fishing tackle, golf gear, etc.--all that never showed up in the video. Walmart is one of those places where you can go and buy a gallon of paint, a ladder, a trashcan, chlorine for your swimming pool, a spare tire for your car, groceries, printer paper, a 50" TV, candy, a bicycle, a bottle of wine, a hammer, clothes, fresh veggies, new speakers for your car stereo, hedge clippers, baby food, and a book--all without leaving the building.

That man is pretty insulting, on so many levels. I’m not at all into hunting, but he was rude, to have the audacity to complain about the colors of a local university? Geez, I’m surprised he made it out of store in one piece. When she told him to stop, he kept on going. He sure has no respect for her! She should dump him. He certainly thinks more about himself than anyone else around him. Not wanting to interact with store personnel? I know it’s not a European thing, but he’s not in Europe. He’ll be disappointed to find out many stores are going away from self checkout. You two are so delightful, I sure hope you have a delightful trip. Ghirardell is American, created San Francisco in the 1900s. Currently own by Lindt. It’s less commonly known and of course a bit more expensive but really good. Fact: Even though they are now owned by Lindt the Ghirardelli brand consistently gets rated higher in quality, taste and purity. Many Americans purchase weapons at Gun Shops, Military Surplus Stores, Second Hand Stores, Gun Shows or from an friend or associate. There are federal regulations that gun retailers must comply such as background check upon the gun buyer and this lengthy process takes time before a person can take possession of the firearm. In other words, you cannot just pick out a firearm (excluding BB guns and rifles) at the store counter and take it home that same day. Used to be you could but not anymore. Phil the German guy definitely couldn't buy a firearm. FYI: Suave is not a Walmart brand just like Frito Lay brand is not a Walmart brand, this American girl isn't the sharpest crayon in the box.🤔

hi guys! this German chap is missing one important point of American shopping in walmart ...we buy what we do, in walmart, because its cheap, mostly, , walmart squeezed out all the other local mom and pop stores, and we do NOT look at all that info of servings and such! we buy it to eat it ourselves, and buy enough for everybody at the dinner table, which includes all the furry/feathered/finned family members. those cheeseballs may last a week! a 5 dollar pizza beats an 11 dollar same size from a pizza place. when you get to America, you will see that your tastes might be met.

I was also thinking about how he was going off about the calories in a certain weight of cheese balls. Now they are junk food, not health food, but they are mostly air, so a whole pound of cheese balls would be enough to last you weeks, if you only snack on them. And I don't think energy drinks are good for you, but I've seen Europeans go off on stuff like that and how they don't allow certain levels of caffeine, etc. But they allow people to buy alcohol, cigarettes, etc. I don't understand why they think it's fine for government to dictate what people are allowed to eat or drink in some cases, yet think it's fine to allow other things that are bad for you. The nearest store, save for the two local gas stations and the little town market (which essentially was a "gasless" station with less hours) was a 30 minute drive. Weekly "get or forget it" shopping trips were the thing. To this day I'm still super-picky about how I bag my groceries to make sure cold items are bundled together in a double bag to stay cold, fragile stuff is isolated, anything that could spill is carefully propped up between other items, even though it's NOT going to spend a half hour bumping and rolling around the inside of a super-hot trunk in summer anymore.

1- Wal-Mart is NOT a 'grocery store'. Think of it as sort of a department store. Sort of a mini-mall. Princess is an American and oughta know that. She acts like she's never been in one-so that says a lot about her BTW. 2- 2A is taken VERY seriously in the South and West. What you may intend as a joke, locals could take as offensive. In my case, when I was stationed in FL my GF's ex would not leave her alone and tried to break into her apartment, while I was deployed. If she did NOT have a weapon, she could've been raped or killed. So..laugh away. 3- Related to "2" again, it seems Europeans don't get how weapons are sold/bought. You just don't go to the counter and put one in your shopping cart. There are extensive background checks, and for some states, a mandatory 3 day waiting period before you can pick up a handgun. 4- Yes, most Americans would like the Christmas stuff to appear, about late November, either right before or right AFTER Thanksgiving. Bottom line, please be respectful to OUR culture, as you would wish US to be so to yours. You don't have to AGREE with it, of course. Off my rant,

the strange prices are based on several factors at walmart. first there is the manufacture suggested price (which can be anything. the manufacture sets it based on the cost to manufacture and adds a percentage of profit for the store that will sell it), then walmart decides if they want to raise it slightly, sometimes the product is on sale, which changes the price again and then there are 'clearance' products (which are products that won't be sold again, so they are getting rid of their stock) which is set at a different price. and these are just a few factors that go into setting a price.

in every super walmart there is usually a cloths section, electronics section, hardware section, automotive section, toy section, sports and hunting section, pet section, health care section, garden section, pharmacy (chemist) and drugs section (over the counter only, the pharmacy keeps the other stuff locked up), home goods section (holiday section, and a grocery section. the grocery section is the size of a full size grocery store with bakery, deli, seafood, meats, dairy, (usually) alcoholic section, frozen, veggie and fruits, snacks, baking products, bread, canned meat products (like stew or chili), canned veggie and fruits, candies, drinks, kitchen products (like paper plates and utensils and napkins) home cleaning, and baby supplies. (I'm sure that I've forgotten some) So you have a very large department store (and all the sections it has) + a full pharmacy (chemist) store + a large grocery store with deli + 4 bay (4 cars at a time) automotive shop (where they work on cars) + large plant nursery with garden supplies and garden/yard tools + sports/hunting store + electronic store my local super walmart is just under 400 ft x 600 ft

It never ceases to amaze me how foreigners think about guns. There are countless inanimate objects that can be dangerous. There is no difference to me between a gun and a hammer. They are tools with purpose. A guy in Wisconsin killed a bunch of people with his car. Are you gonna start being afraid of them too?

Most Americans do not own a gun and think the same way as "foreigners". A gun is not a tool. Its a weapon. Its only purpose is to kill. Hammers are tools made for building things. Cars are means of transport.

The big box stores have swimwear, pool toys, etc out in March in most of the U.S. (even in parts of the country where you can't swim until late May) I don't see how that is so much different from having Halloween candy out in late August or Christmas decor out in October. I don't know 'what caused what'. When I was kid way back in the 70s most people didn't put up their Christmas tree on Thanksgiving or Christmas lights the week after Halloween.

Food in the US is typically marked in both imperial and metric units (I think by law in the 80s). We generally stock 2 liter bottles of soda - but beware, they are sometimes expensive depending on the brand. Although he was surprised at the chicken bag, it is a ten piece bag. If you have a family, you can get a bag and just cook however many pieces you need. Same with hamburger patties and certain other foods. It's worth noting that imperial/metric is kind of irrelevant in a grocery store. If you are following a recipe, it might call for a can of this or that. I'd challenge anybody to know what the exact amount was in a given can of soup. It's not a whole number in either imperial or metric. Milk is sold in half-gallon and gallon, but when you use it for cereal you don't measure it out. Even if you follow a recipe calling for a measured amount, you still tend to buy milk when the container gets low - not when you fall below a measured amount. Potatoes are sold by the pound (5 pounds, ten, twenty), but again you're really buying for use - you don't cook a meal with a recipe calling for 2.5 pounds of potatoes - or any other fruit/veg. You get what a recipe says is the minimum and work from there.

To those visiting the US who really are troubled by figuring out what the sales tax is on a per item basis and in their current specific location there are a bounty of apps for Android and iOS that will let you scan the item barcode and then read your location and tell you either to check or as added to your virtual cart so you know the total. There are also an immense number of unit converters for both platforms that allow for easy and quick conversions if imperial units aren't something with with you're familiar. Each of those annoyances (to visitors) have already been addressed really thoroughly already.

@@jamiemoss3633 Except that the tax rate can also vary by item or item category, if at all. Hence why if it's confusing, having one of the many apps that'll tell you if it has sales tax and if so, how much, is an easy fix.

@@nochannel1q2321 your item variances are most likely tobacco and alcohol. Most states don't tax food. Several states have zero sales taxes. @nochannel1q2321

@@jamiemoss3633Not really, no. While there is often sales tax on alcohol and tobacco sales they are also generally taxed additionally on their own. "Most" means some do. Thus if the person is visiting, they're unlikely to know if the state does or not, if the county does or not, if the municipality does or not, and if so, at what rate. Sales tax rates are available, but having an app to check it and do the work for you is easier. It's weird that you're so against some app creators turning stated tax rates, applying them to products as published and then using this data, a location reading and a scan to give them the answer more conveniently.

The county has somewhere between 600k and 700k people but I still think we don't need that many Walmarts. Then again we have over 30 McDonald's. That's America. BTW we are starting to see some stores back away from the self check-outs. There is a big backlash in America over them. A lot of people don't like them because they take jobs away from other people. Some businesses don't like them because they have technical issues as well as people not being so honest and shoplifting. Then of course there are a lot of people who just don't like doing it period.
