Should it be HUMOR or HUMOUR? ORGANISE or ORGANIZE? Spelling can be difficult enough, but in English we have the added complication of differences in spelling between American and UK English. In this lesson I’ll cover the main categories of words which are spelt differently in British English and American English. And what about Canadian English? Dear Ma'am Gill, I have liked your lesson on British and American spellings ! British people go for lengthy spellings whereas American people tend to use lesser number of words and they lay emphasis on how it sounds while spelling any word.If the word 'pillar' sounds perfectly okay using only one 'l', they will not go for another 'l' to strengthen it. Since we have learnt to pronounce the words with 'll' as they are, right from the very beginning of our life,we find it strange to spell the words with a single 'l'. Thanks !😊

A Very useful video, I learned a lot. Thanks Gill, your videos always cheer me up!☀️ The subtitles on this video was a bit confusing. When a words spelling changed as a verb in English, or to the American spelling the subitles often still showed the English noun spelling.
