We used to watch this show a lot in my home when I was young. My dad used to answer a lot of the questions before the options even came up. So we got him to apply to audition, and he got invited to go, but he never did… Also, I think, at least here in America, they removed the phone a friend lifeline. Actually they’ve added/removed a lot of the lifelines over the years, and have changed the format of the show a lot as well.

The plural of "rhinoceros" is either "rhinoceroses" or "rhinoceros" (the same way that "deer" is both singular and plural). "Rhinoceri" is an attempt to treat it like Latin, but the word isn't Latin, and even if it were, the plural wouldn't take that form (it's "-ceros," not "cerus.") The show had it wrong. Llamas are new world animals, from the Andes. Hannibal would never have heard of them.

I think some look at the correct word(s) but say the wrong corresponding letter. If it were me I would say outload the word first. Then when he asks for the letter, say the letter. At least everyone including the judges would know which one you meant. lol

I never would have known the first one about the Plum, I have never heard that nursery rhyme in my whole life that I can recall, and I was shocked that's an example of a fail/stupidity, because I'm sure there's way more and better examples than that. He should have used one of his lifelines though if he wasn't confident, which technically is stupid of him not to do.

Are we positive Sophie got her degree in education? You don't have to know Pokemon to know that Frodo is the Hobbit that carried The One Ring to Mordor in the Lord of the Rings and not a pokemon. I am not quite sure how anyone wouldn't know that Frodo is not a Pokemon.

12:15 - I kinda get why this is on here, but I also kinda don't. The man is an adult answering a question about a kid's show that was probably after his time. I mean _maybe_ it's kinda coincidental that he didn't seem to know that Frodo is a Lord of the Rings character, but he made it all the way to $250,000, the stakes were much higher, he was probably stressed...if he didn't know, he didn't need to try to take the risk and force an answer. If you ask me, he did the _wise_ thing and walked with what had knowing he made a quarter of a million US dollars. Just a matter of perspective, I guess.

Why do contestants explain what they're thinking before choosing the 50/50 help. It's practically guaranteed the choices you're left with are going to be your wrong idea and the correct answer. Not sure when that episode aired, but I think it was included since the assumption would be you’d most likely know Frodo is from Lord of the Rings even if you didn’t know anything about Pokémon or even Lord of the Rings.

I can understand why someone even knowing of Frodo from the book would stop and take the $250,000 if they didn't know Pokemon characters. They wouldn't know if Frodo was also the name of a Pokemon character and $250,000 is a lot to risk not being completely sure.
