They would have the guy put on "any country song" and then talk completely different words in pitches like they were doing scales on the piano.

By the time a contestant reaches the level of 'the big four" on these types of shows they have already passed through a number of other short "pre-auditions" beforehand. These poor people are led on to believe that they might make it on the show by these pre-judges. They are purposely moved forward so that there are always such dismal failures to laugh at when the show airs. It's somewhat cruel actually. Cheers

Cruel for who these are adults and if you’re trying to tell me that they didn’t know they were horrible before they went on stage everybody knows that shows like this don’t show everything that goes on but they’re not mindless children they are adults trying to make it but they’re just horrible nobody’s fault but theirs and if everyone was good the show would be boring
