as for time in the locker rooms. Don't forget these are students, they have classes to go to and have practice daily so they will go there whenever they want. They have practice, but also weight training, film room work. So if you have access you take advantage. perks. The other students don't have these sorts of options. They are just regular students.

Hey Daz, they just wear different helmets and uniforms for different games. Many school don't switch other than road and away unis/helmets. Oregon is def the leader of the "new school" wave and loves to introduce new uniforms constantly. Having the founder of Nike as head donor def helps with that!

Player only get MONDAYS OFF from FB training. And many will still come in on Monday for rehab or extra volunteer film study . They live in their sports facilities. Plus school schedule ! Its a huge commitment. Games every Saturday. Away games they fly out Friday early afternoon, 1 night in hotel then fly back Saturday night after game. Right back on Sunday with light lift, film study & practice. Sunday is for correction, injuries and just to work lactic acid out. Tuesday starts a new week of practice for Saturdays game. 20 hrs per week not including "volunteer" film study or technique work which is pretty much expected.

Eugene Oregon resident here. The reason they’re called the Ducks is that they were originally called the webfoots, due to all of the wet weather here. Walt Disney came up here in 1950 or so to visit his in-laws, and visited the university and liked it so much that he made them a licensing deal to use a Donald Duck like character as the mascot. They had a sort of hand shake deal that lasted fifty years. The only stipulation was that they couldn’t call him “Donald”, so the official name is “puddles”. This is definitely a company town, and that company is Nike.

During season when guys have classes, they typically will always be in the locker room or in the building somewhere. College football is typically. Get up. Go to workout with the team. Go to Class. Go to practice. Go to meeting. Go to tutorials or study hall. Then back home to sleep or do homework. Some cases, its more convenient to just sleep at the facility since its on campus

While Oregon is backed by Phil Night/Nike and has an exuberant amount of money, Alabama has a lot more hardware and jewelry to flash. Plus with all of Alabama's success I'm sure they have a very similar budget. You spoke on the sliding magnifier for the rings. Oregon could not do that because they have 0 National Championships to Alabama's 13! The prestige of Alabama football far outweighs that of Oregon football. Oregon Football is known for their innovative and creative jersey combinations, and in the early 2000's-2010's their up-tempo play calling paired with extremely fast athletes. Oregon is also known as Track Town USA because of their storied history of Track and Field athletes. A lot of Oregon Football players participate in both Football and Track and Field. Most players who choose Oregon do so because of the Nike backing, innovating uniforms, and the fast style of play that Oregon offers.

Re sleep pods: As a student the campus is pretty large and you probably don't live on campus past your first year so going home after you've been on there is a trek. Also your schedule can be wild. In grad school i was up to 2 most nights, and a couple of days had 8 am classes. And that meant being up by 6:30 to make it. Meaning I didn't get 8 hours. most nights. I'd take a nap in the lounge couches many days and i wasn't remotely alone. You saw many students who were on a few hours sleep but had an 8-10 AM class sleeping from 10 to 11 just to get some zzz. We'd have loved to have a sleep room to go into and not essentially sleep in an arm chair or a couch near a student common area.

It’s the most disciplined sport, you have to have mental strength and physical strength and your body has to be able to play each weekend. Most of us start at 5 years old, you have to keep your weight up and keep your physical attributes speed and strength close to 100%. Gain weight, you lose speed, lose muscle mass and you lose strength. Also the body needs to heal from the season, that is broken bones, bruising, pulled muscles, torn ligaments, on top of that you have to remember your playbook and position and your school work. It’s a lifestyle and you don’t hangout with your friends and family and it’s dedication to the sport and the brotherhood with your teammates and opponents, years and years of hard work and sacrifices, just to play on Friday night in front of large crowds and playing college football is rare and it’s only a few that even get a chance to play or get a scholarship.

@7:45 Oregon has an exclusive right to use Donald Duck's likeness basically in perpetuity. Thanks to the former AD Leo Harris' friendship with a Disney animator he was able to meet with Walt Disney himself and reach an informal agreement that let Oregon use Donald as their mascot provided he met Disney's standards of behavior. It would later be officialized and Puddles, as he's now known, became the permanent mascot and a beloved one at that.

Phil Knight is not the "founder" of the University, which is a crazy claim to see considering it was founded in the 1870s. He's one of however many notable alumni and donates a lot of money. You could name pretty much any large university, particularly those with a high level athletics program (regardless of which sport or sports they're most known for) and you're guaranteed to have some famous, very wealthy alumni funneling beaucoup cash into the athletics department.

Oregon’s facilities are still ranked 1st nationally in college football facilities, despite it being 10yrs old, and having other schools spending far more for their facilities. But based on inflation, and the increased costs of building materials and construction/work crews…the Oregon facilities would easily cost twice as much in 2022/23. Also, it was said that the project actually went over budget when it was completed, and they ended up spending $138Million in 2012, not $68M. That would cost $250M today, on the conservative end. They’re about to start construction on an indoor practice field with a see through Oregon O roof, which will cost an estimated $250M. At $260M, that also equals what the world famous Hayward Field costs. And those facilities are second to none, since they host the world championships, the USA track qualifications for the Olympics, and of course, the Pre Classic, where the top track athletes come to compete yearly. Phil Knight also built the most expensive college basketball arena-Matt Knight Arena as well for Oregon, and just spent $1Billion on a the knight science campus. Oregon also has a machine that heats up your cleats, and when you put your foot in, it molds to your foot. There’s only three of them in existence, and one is in Eugene, Or. Walt Disney and the former Dean of Oregon went to college together, and he gave his friend the okay to use a similar looking version to Donald Duck. The Oregon Duck mascot is just known as “The Duck” though…even though people sometimes call him puddles…but that was the name of the live Duck mascot from a long time ago.

College football is bigger than the NFL in places where they don't have the NFL or their NFL team has been bad for a long time and the college team has been good for a long time (e.g., Michigan). Alabama has no NFL team--they just have the minor leagues of football, which is college football--U of Alabama, Auburn, same with Mississippi, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Nebraska--no NFL team, just kids/amateurs in college. I love college football, but why would I want to watch that over the best in the world in the NFL where the quality of play is much higher--and, also more competitive. Ideal states to live in really are those with strong NFL and college teams--Ohio, Pennsylvania come to mind.
