Terrific Shepherds Pie receipt, again, exactly like my mother in law taught me, with a couple exceptions, she put the shredded cheese over the meat/veg mixture and smeared a thin layer of catsup over the potatoes. She also used parsnips with the carrots, when she could get them. I just love your videos-Im so glad I found you!

@Casper77626 жыл бұрын
BritishCook maybe our next meeting I will have to make 3 or 4 large dishes of this and 3 or 4 pies to go to the church with me. Then organize who makes what else so we can have a luncheon together and work with other ladies for sides that will go with this and another meat dish. And, I will make scones again at the church and lots of tea since I just got 2 8 cup brown betty tea pots and a 6 cup one too. I'm keeping my 6 cup and 1 of the 8 cup and giving one to the church. I am also taking 3 large bags of loose leaf tea with me the next time we meet too. I get some great recipes off of KZbin and it's amazing to have them and use them too.

This is my Number #1 comfort food. I have all the ingredients to make this, except for the lamb, I have ground beef. Lamb is really expensive here in Ontario so we'd never dare ground it up. I have a friend coming over for dinner tomorrow. I'm making this! Thanks BritishCook!

Brilliant, that sounds great! What other dishes do you enjoy? Is there something you would like me to make?
@Morningfame6 жыл бұрын
Haha, I am not sure actually. The other dish I am eating at that bar is a burger. It tastes different than any American burger but I guess in this regard the bar adopted more of the American taste rather than keeping the recipes original. ;)

You Never do a flop/fail! Recently you showed a giant size pastie. You said you over-filled it and juice came out from the vent hole on top. Sweetie, I believe it was on IG. If I ever made one that looked like the ones you made, I would be thrilled! When I say I made a flop, you can bet that's exactly what I did and would be inedible. Am positive the large pasties you made would be over the moon delicious! And BTW, I Love it here better than IG. I only go to IG to watch what you put up. If it wasn't for you, I would never go there.😁guess it truly is hard to teach old dogs new tricks.

Yea thats not a Shepherds Pie in the UK, because well a Shepherd looks after sheep, not cows :P It's called a cottage pie with beef in the UK and has different spices, but I know most people in America call the beef one Shepherds Pie....? Maybe lamb isn't a common meat.
@stephaniel81646 жыл бұрын
Mushroom ketchup - I'm intrigued! If you put some in a spoon and ate it, what does it taste like? Mushroomy? Worcester sauce? Soy sauce? Salty? Herby? I've never heard of it and I want to make a substitution.
@maryloufarnsworth84616 жыл бұрын
From what Drew said it sounds like "Kitchen Bouquet" might work. I use it to add a rich color to soups and stews.
@britishcook54686 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry for the delay, it tastes very sharp neat, it looks like a vingegar type base but in food it gives it a lovely rich unami flavour :D

Hi Mr British Cook, I know that you give the amounts of ingredients as you are doing the videos but could you possibly write them up in the part/link underneath as well as the method/mode so I can write them down as usually I'm too busy watching the video and don't want to keep stopping the video to write everything down as I would then lose interest in watching. Thanks and happy Easter, kind regards Ena Rabone

Sorry about that tripod! Shepherd’s Pie=Lamb Cottage Pie=Beef ???? Pie=Vegetables only I’ll make the gorgeous Shepherd’s Pie for a dinner party where meat eaters will enjoy it but would love to adjust it for vegetarians (like me)! Thanks so much. We really enjoy these videos.
@britishcook54686 жыл бұрын
Hi Margaret! Pie = anything. Shepherds pie is this dish I cook, Cottage pie is similar pie but with beef and seasonings. But anything with root veg on top or with pasty is a Pie, it does not need meat. For vegetarian option maybe try sweet potato or butternut squash ( cooked0, red peppers ( grilled) and feta cheese? I'm so pleased you enjoy the videos please stay in touch.
@solatiumz6 жыл бұрын
You could call the veggie version a "garden pie".
@mkivy6 жыл бұрын
Lamb is so delicious ...if...u get quality lamb...don’t get mutton...totally different food...lamb is delicate in flavor and texture...try lamb chops grilled...u will live them...then go to a butcher u respect and ask for lamb and he will grind it for ‘u...u can also combine lamb and beef or if it’s to off-putting, just eat beef...lol...great recipe sir. I love Shepard’s pie...was my go-to dish in UK....do u make fish n chips? I will have to keep following u...

Great recipe. I can't wait to try it. Not exactly sure what the mushroom sauce is but...will try it any way. BTW-in the states we don't call it ...whatever you said. We pronounce it like War-chester-shire. Not sure if that's proper but that's how they say it in Ohio! :) Also- I can't wait to try the clotted cream. Miss that the most!

Looks like a tasty Shepherds Pie. I just made a pie like this the other day for my family. I love shepherds pie. I cooked almost 2 kg of meet so ended up using the spare meat veg mixture to have with spaghetti the next day too. 😁 Also do you ever have Sloppy Jo’s? That’s where we take the mince and and cook some toast put some cheese on top then put the mince mixture on top of that. Very tasty 😁
