Thanks Fil. I had no idea there were reaction videos on Walter. I don't consider your comments a "reaction video". Your intelligence and knowledge of music makes it a real pleasure to listen to your comments. And I certainly learn something every time. Even with Walter. I'm so proud of him. I met him when he was just coming back from a bad situation. We used to go to gigs hoping they would let him sit in. Well after they heard him play those invitations were few and far between! LOL Then came Fito De LaPara and the reformed Canned Heat, then the awesome John Mayall. We gave John a T-shirt for his 50th birthday "Life is too short to drink bad wine". Thanks again Fil.

Surely at well in to my 7th decade, I can't be your target demographic, but you just keep nailing my taste. Walter is peerless in his ability to reach into his instrument's soul, and give it to the audience. I had tix to see him in Oz, when he had to cancel his tour to undergo his surgery. He was double billed with Robben Ford, who unfortunately didn't cancel. Ford started his set with his number, "Everything I do gonna be funky from now on", and he lived by it for the next hour or so. Torture! It gave me an extra fondness for Walter Trout and the blues. If I never get to see Walter Trout live, I take great joy in knowing that he is still gigging. He is an absolute legend. Thanks for putting this one up.

No matter how often I see Walter live his playing and singing show me something new every time. Even seeing him twenty years ago it was obvious to me that he had transcended mere blues guitar playing. The way he builds each performance, with melodicism and insane orchestration, is always always uplifting. This is something more akin to Ornette Colman and John Coletrane - an outpouring of pure feeling that few other blues artists have the virtuosity to achieve.

I love Walter Trout's intensity and emotion. He doesn't just show up, it brings it raw and real every time. Great singer too. One of my UK friends turned me on to Walter Trout about 15 years ago. I wish he was better known in the USA because he completely destroys some of the more famous players out there.

Walter played the Blues bash at Holmfirth whilst he was ill. I cried when he came on stage. He had lost a 100 pounds and looked like a 100 year old man. He played the gig mostly sitting down as he didn't have the strength to stand. He basically said that he was doing what he loved to do. He had been screwed over by the insurance companies and basically didn't know whether he would live or die as he couldn't afford his healthcare. I have never seen anyone give so much on a stage and I will always remember his selflessness. Love Bonamassa, Josh Smith. Matt Schofield, Patlansky et al, but Walter Trout IS the blues.

Walter Trout used to play a lot at Perq's, in Huntington Beach, back in the 90's. I saw him play lead for both Canned Heat and John Mayall on the same night, at the legendary Golden Bear. A monster talent, who is better received, it seems, overseas than he is here, in the United States. A blues man's life here is a life on the road. I'm quite certain that this suits him, quite well, anyway.

He has found a local bluesband, The Blindstone, which he have given a few concert with, when local restriction allowed it. I was so lucky to se one i Silkeborg, Denmark. I've been hoping you would get around to a feature on Walter, one of the greatest blues/rock players out there. I have eleven of his albums and always get to his gigs when he visits the UK. I was delighted when he recovered from his liver transplant and started playing again. I can only assume all the posts from people saying they had never heard of Walter must live in the USA, because he is enormously popular in the UK, and in Holland he's a megastar. Still, Jimi Hendrix had to come to England before the Americans realised how brilliant he was. Not only is Walter a wonderful guitarist, he is a real gent as well. Every gig of his I have attended, he always meets his fans after the show to sign CD's and chat.

LOL Everyone was playing country rock but if Walter played country he would play George Jones or the really originals. I'm still in contact with him especially after his near death experience. Of course Marie his wife and three boys (including John who plays with him) take good care of him. This was the ONLY thing Walter could really do he tried a day job once and it was a disaster. Great analysis Fil, I remember buying his debut album after being a big fan of his tenure with John Mayalls Bluesbreakers along with Coco Montoya who is another great blues guitarist.

I was fortunate to get to know and hang out with Walter , between his early tours with Canned Heat and Mayall...During that time he had a very cool local ( Huntington Beach ) band , with some super talented local guys , sprinkled in with Canned Heat guys. To say the least ,when he played the local clubs, he kicked some serious butt, and it was clear to see ,that his only way was up, up and up , clearly a star, and clearly a very fun guy to see play. I think that his relationship with organ donation, is the icing on the cake of coming within a thin thread, of not making it....a beautiful testimony of living the blues, and beating the odds.

What a player. And seeing that he's been through the grinder with John Mayall, well is there anything else one needs to say? Great analysis again, I'd give you a few thumbs up if it was possible 👍👍👍

I lived in the Norfolk backwaters as a teenager. Market towns etc. Norwich was the big city. However, we were very fortunate in having a place called West Runton Pavilion by the coast. 800 capacity, all standing, regularly get 1200 in there with a popular band. In the mid- late 70's and early 80's we saw pretty much everybody there was that would tour in those sort of places. Inc Pat Travers and Walter Trout more than once. Believe me, in their youth those two guys were full on. Right up front before the stage these guys were ELECTRIC. Great times, great bands, fantastic best of lifetime gigs. Edit, Walter is also one of those guys who is right up there with Hendrix cover versions - loud! Check out Pat Travers' all time rock classic Snortin' Whiskey Drinking Cocaine. Brilliant title....
