My dad fought in WW2, and my son gave 21 years to the USMC, a veteran of the Iraqi War. When Toby did this, he meant it for the troops, but it caught on. I don't think the Washington crowd liked it, but the public sure did. I saw Toby 2 years ago, and this was his encore. The audience went crazy. People had tears streaming down their faces. I hope and pray we are still that country.🇺🇸❤

Toby Keith refused to record this song, and would perform it only live for a military audience. A top General requested he record it just because not dveryone would get to attend a luve performance and he wanted everyone in his command to hear it. So Toby recorded it. He is currently fighting stomach cancer but has hinted he is in recovery and intends to go back on tour when he feels stronger, with radiation and chemo having taken a bite ot two. A more fun song..."Red Solo Cup", or "As Good as I Once Was"

My original ancestor arrived in America from Scotland in 1692. My family fought against Britain in the American Revolution and then again in the war of 1812. But, my family never lost its love for our brothers and sisters in the mother country. My grandfather showed that love when he landed on Omaha beach on D-day in defense of Britain in WW2. He fought until the end of the war. He returned home a broken man. But, he and our family were proud of him for fighting for us and our mother country. Four decades later, I fought in the Gulf War 91’. I served alongside many great British soldiers. Afterwords, I went to London and met the love of my life. She was from Nottingham and I was from South Carolina. But, we had 2 daughters and we never looked back. Nearly 300 years and my family and Great Britain reconnected. May god bless the USA and Great Britain.

As an American, this song inspires pride in us all, as we were all so devastated after 9/11. Your reaction & respect is appreciated. Toby has another great patriotic song called 'American soldier' & in the case of Toby... ALWAYS look for his videos. They fully inspire the feelings he is trying to get from us, from that particular song. It could be pride, hope, melancholy, yearning or in many cases, laughter. He manages to add humor in video's that are serious ballads, like 'A little too late' or 'You shouldn't kiss me like this'. They are serious songs, but he manages to crack you up watching the video he comes up with. He is one of my absolute favorites. He has no problem making himself 'the joke' like in his song 'As good as I once was'. HILARIOUS!

My first husband was in the marine corps and we were stationed in north Carolina when my eldest was born. His first deployment to Marjah Afghanistan while i was pregnant , he got injured due to an IED attack on his convoy. i appreciate your reactions. i still get sick to my stomace when i think of that morning. i was in mississippi and my kids were in los angeles. all i could think of was we were under attack and i was 2000 miles away from my kids and it felt like i was in a nlghtmare. i had just got up and was checking the news on my computer when all this was popping up i was so confused. i turned on the tv and saw the towers it was surreal. cowards thats what they are. the sad thing is that too many young people now were too young to remember this and are acting like idiots. they need to see what they are doing to this country before its too late. so many people including my father and my xfatherinlaw whom i adored thatwas a marine and was one of the ones that stormed normandy for our freedom. and they are just going to give it all away. nevermind climate control when theres nothing left after they destroy this country. As an American military family, I really appreciate your comments. Just as a mention, my father in law was a tailgunner during WWII and he flew missions out of England for much of his time in the war. He flew in many bombing raids over Germany.
