I've been to Flagstaff several times. What had me gobsmacked is, I met people who were 50, 60 years old and lived in Flagstaff their whole lives, and had never been to the Grand Canyon. Then again, most of my life I lived an hour away fro Mammoth Cave and I've never been there. So, yeah. But I've been to the Grand Canyon nine times. All around it. You can stand there on the rim, look at it, and it still doesn't look real.

I went up there by the train ride from the town of Williams. Fun ride, we were attacked by desperados, literally racing their horses next to the train and stopping it. They boarded, pulled out instruments and passed the hat around as they sang. The canyon itself it totally jaw dropping.. it’s 21 km of view across the other side

The south rim of the Canyon, where this couple was, is just over four hours from Las Vegas. If you arrive at sunrise or near sunset, the crowds either haven't arrived or have left for the day. The Grand Canyon Skywalk is only about 2 hours from Vegas. The North Rim Lodge is about 2 hours and 15 minutes from Vegas. April is tough for the North Rim Lodge because the road is usually snowed in and closed. They plow the roads on the South Rim, so it is open all year long. The Canyon is really long, 400 km. It's beautiful and the colors I kept thinking how is this real. I walked the big tree trail at Sequoia last weekend and saw General Sherman for the first time. We are doing our third cross-country trip using Route 66 from California to Chicago. I'd rather drive because we, or at least I forget, just how beautiful this country is.

My grandparents live in Peoria, AZ during the winter, and my dad and I occasionally fly out there for spring break. We drove to a small town (and I mean smaaaallll town) called Williams, where visitors catch the train to the Grand Canyon. We did a bus tour where we only got about 5-10 minutes for each location. Not the most extensive visit, but it is absolutely gorgeous. It is deceivingly freezing since you're at a high elevation; it even snowed for a minute while we were there.

I went to the grand canyon back in 2000 and it was one of the most breathtaking things I've ever witnessed. Nothing in a video or picture can prepare you for how utterly big it is. You're going to love it. For the Vegas trip, might I suggest flying into Phoenix and then driving to Vegas? The Grand Canyon is on the way as is Hoover Dam which is also pretty cool. For Orlando, there is a place called Gatorland Zoo that is just as the name suggests a zoo for alligators - over 2000 of them! You might find that interesting since you've been watching some American animal videos and gators are frequently listed. It's pretty incredible to see so many of them in person!

For stores, I recommend Bass Pro Shop It's 9 hours to drive from Los Angeles to Grand Canyon. When my mom's pen pal from Accrington, Lancashire visited the US the first time, she was impressed with our straight roads and said, "The Romans must have been here." Hikes from the rim down to the deepest point & back could take about 12 hours down and up when you're taking pictures and resting. You can also do burro rides, guided tours down there. There's an Indian Reservation in one section of the canyon with one hotel....no motor cars or even a place to drive on in and out. Daily mail service from a letter carrier who rides a burro down and back from Monday to Friday.

The bottom of the Grand Canyon is full of life. The Colorado River carved this over millions of years. And where there's water there's life. It's an absolute must to take a trip to the river and go rafting. If not rafting then hiking. Looking from the top is amazing but going to the bottom is the experience of a lifetime. I highly recommend it if you have the time. Day tripping is a look from the top and shorter hikes around the rims. It's vast. It's beautiful. And the United States has so much more to see than just the Canyon. You will be awestruck with every National Park you can fit in your trip. Howdy y'all from the Great Lone Star State of Texas 🤠🇺🇸

The length of a hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon depends on the trail you take and the rim you start from: South Rim The South Kaibab Trail is 6.8 miles to Bright Angel Campground, and the Bright Angel Trail is 9.3 miles. Most hikers take 4-5 hours to reach the campground on either trail. The hike down to the river from the South Rim can take about 5 hours, and the hike back up can take about 15 hours. Trails from the South Rim are usually shorter, steeper, and more crowded than trails from the North Rim. North Rim The North Kaibab Trail descends 14.3 miles and 6,000 feet to the river. The descent can take closer to 8 hours, and the hike back up can take 20+ hours depending on fitness. Trails from the North Rim are longer, more circuitous, and less maintained than trails from the South Rim.

I live in southern Arizona (the Grand Canyon state). I love where I live, it's always amazing. I do "pine" for grass and trees sometimes... but not enough to leave! The Grand Canyon is almost indescribable, videos and photos just don't do it justice. If you'll be in Vegas you'll only be about a 4 hours drive away from the Grand Canyon, just sayin'. At the bottom of the canyon is the Colorado River. When you go to Vegas, keep in mind when your there the need to drink a LOT of water. The dry climate will sneak up on you SO fast, you don't even realize it until it's a problem. Certainly if you do any hiking in the Vegas area or surrounding desert, bring way more water than you think you'll need. It's surprisingly common to have tourists unfamiliar with the arid climate need to be rescued because of dehydration.

I personally would recommend renting a Mule, but that's just me. Not many people know this, but deep down in the Canyon, a tribe of Indians makes it their home. They hunt and gather for most of their food to this day, as it takes so long (even by boat) to get supplies from the outside world. If you ever travel to see it, I would suggest renting a cabin or room at one of the lodges and taking a few days to really soak it all in.

When you go to the Grand Canyon and look down at the Colorado River, your mind sees all of the "bushes" lining the river. In fact, those are full grown trees. The sheer magnitude of the size can't be appreciated from a KZbin video. You "might" get some kind of sense of the scale in an IMAX theater, but nothing will compare to actually seeing it. The average depth of the Grand Canyon is about 4000 feet and is 6000 feet depth at its deepest. It is 277 miles long.

The Grand Canyon is very beautiful. I hiked from the south rim all the way down and across to the Colorado River. Great video.

It's crazy to be standing on the edge of the canyon and see tiny microscopic specks in lower parts of the canyon that you can tell are people. The scale is truly hard to comprehend even when you're standing right in front of it. I highly recommend it. From an Arizona native, if you are thinking of hiking down inside the canyon be aware that it gets very hot inside the canyon. People think because it's in northern Arizona it will be cool, but it can get up to 100 degrees down there. People who aren't acclimated to the heat are vulnerable to making silly decisions because they just lack the knowledge that's common to us. Listen to the park rangers, they are trying to avoid having to get your body hoisted out of there later.

Except for the first week of the month (spring break), April is a pretty good time to visit the Grand Canyon--less crowded. For future trips, I'd also suggest you put Crater Lake, Oregon and a drive to the summit of Mauna Kea on the big island of Hawaii on your bucket list of other-worldly American scenic destinations.

The Grand Canyon looks amazing in photos and videos but it doesn't even scratch the surface in how overwhelmingly beautiful it is. I took a tour from las vegas and it included taking a 12 seat plane down inside of the canyon. This tour also included the Mohave Dessert and the Hoover Dam. On another trip to Vegas I went to Bryce National Park and into Utah. Even within Las Vegas is another beautiful place called Red Rock Canyon. It is literally very close to The Strip in Vegas. My job was so amazing as I traveled a lot in and out of the US. I always tried to stay in my location to see the place and learn about the local culture. I loved every minute of it.

When you go to Vegas, there is a Native American reservation only a couple hours away where you can visit to see the Grand Canyon. You can rent a car in Vegas to get there. It’s a really nice day trip!

The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long; 18 miles at it's widest; and 4,000 feet deep or 1219.2 meters. You should got to Pinball Hall of Fame, Lake Mead, Grand Canyon, Hoover dam, Sky walk over The Grand Canyon, and the Mob museum,

I've been there a couple times, it's a breath taking sight. Don't go out on the rocks, an average of 12 people fool around and fall in every year. It's a mile deep in some places. And watch out for rattlesnakes.

Hey, Im new to your channel and I just spent the last 2 hours binge watching your videos 😁. I definitely needed some uplifting videos these days, so for that I thank you! If you ever get the opportunity to visit anywhere in the US I would highly recommend Yellowstone National Park. I've been there several times and it never ceases to amaze me as to how beautiful it is. Thank you again!

The couple in this video only went down 10percent of the way. When i visited in May, the rim had snow, we started at 6am, took us until 3 to dip our feet in the colorado river, and climbed back to the rim by 11pm. We were so entranced with the color changes and the sun light and moon light playing against the canyon walls. So beautiful.

I have seen it first hand. It looks like a giant painting that fills all you can see from one side of the horizon to the other, but it is real. No art work could recreate this wonder. God is wonderful.

I hope you get to see all of these places someday. If you are going to Vegas you aren't very far away from the Grand Canyon. Also just to get out of the city and into the desert around Vegas is so special. If you have time to travel across the border into California, Kings Canyon is spectacular with Giant Sequoias.

Gas was in the high $1.80/gallon about 3 years ago, currently closed to $4. {Florida} Much more expensive in California. Grand Canyon is amazing! If you ever get the chance, you should visit for sure!

I live about 3.5 hours from the Grand Canyon. When visitors come, they want to see it. There are a number of ways to see it, but tours is a good recommendation because you do not deal with the parking issues, particularly during peak season (summertime). There is even a tour which takes you on a train being pulled by an old fashioned steam locomotive which will "take you back" to the early West days. Once at the Canyon, you will have a bus/coach tour without worrying about parking. You can have lunch included in the same package. Hiking in the desert is diffierent. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE ENOUGH WATER, and stay on the trail!!! Every year we hear of visitors who fall from after crossing the railing on the trail, or they do not take enough water and die of dehydration. It is VERY dry here in Arizona. Here in Phoenix during late Spring and early Summer, we get humdity in the single digits. That is really dry. There are other things to see while in the general vicinity, such as Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. My sister--in-law thought Oak Creek Canyon was more beautiful than the Grand Canyon.

Oh and since you are going to be in Vegas, you’re actually not that far from the Grand Canyon. There are helicopter tours… but I would recommend just renting a car and making a day trip to drive there and back. It’s only about 250 miles and a 4.5 hour trip. And while our gas (petrol) is high by our standards. It is probably waaaaaay cheaper by comparison to what you pay in Ireland. I’m in California and we have some of the highest gas prices in the country because of regulations. We are currently paying between $4.50-$5.00 a gallon. In other parts of the country it’s anywhere from $1.00-$1.50 cheaper per gallon.

Adam, our gas is $3.79 per gallon. In Orlando, you need to go to Epcot - theme park. There's only one thing i care about in Vegas - the Sphere! It's a music venue. Its the most amazing, incredible music venue ever created. It's worth seeing!

I could be wrong as I haven't been to Orlando Florida in about 20 years, and things may have changed since then, but I had a blast going to Medieval Times, so I'd recommend checking that out, assuming they're still around. If it's anything like it was back in the day, you go there to eat in a big stadium while watching things like jousting matches and sword fights. Pretty cool, or at least it was when I went. Most of my time was spent at whatever Disney park was there, though, so I don't know of many other places to visit or things to do (especially since, like all things Disney, the parks have really gone down hill over the years).

First of all why the Grand Canyon exists is really interesting in my opinion. At the bottom of that canyon is what remains of the Colorado river, though it was once much bigger. The canyon was made over millions and millions of years by erosion from the river. Also, the roads are so good because it's in the desert. Road's deteriorate mostly based of temperatures changing during the seasons and water expanding and contracting as it changes to Ice. The tons of salt we put on the roads in some snowy areas of the country makes it worse. In Chicago where I'm from, the roads don't stay in that condition more than like a year or two max? It's not because they are made poorly, it's just mother nature. If I missed anything please comment!
