Lived in Houston for 5 years and loved it! Enjoy your time there. However, I'm Southern as it gets.. I'm from Mississippi. Houston isn't the South, it's pure TEXAS!

It does NOT snow very much in the south, that's the problem. 3 inches of snow and the whole south comes to a grinding stop while we in the north just brush off the snow and go about our day as if nothing happened.

Be polite and you will fit right in with the south. Texas is in the south their not southwest their not southeast their just south and damn proud just like all the south, probably the proudest part of the USA. The south is all about college football, i live in alabama but i like Georgia, families will be divided on who they like. Just enjoy life, live every minute like its the last.

Texas' recent cold snaps are NOT the norm and the majority of the state rarely sees snow & ice. Texas is not the south. Texas is Texas. We have a lot of the same values as the South, but don't get it twisted...
