Side effects may include drowsiness, lowered moods, decreased libido, anal seepage, nose bleeds, excessive ear wax, lice, hemorrhoids, alopecia, and in rare cases, paralysis and death. Sometimes the “side effects” really aren’t. During the drug testing phase the people may say “I have a headache” one of the days. It may not have anything to do with the medicine, but testing phase..the researchers have to write everything down. EVERYTHING. The commercials are obliged to add “Side effects MAY include...” even if 99.9% of the test subjects never got a headache while taking the drug.

We use same amount of ice per cup (in Finland) and our cups are still smaller... It's not about the ice. It's about how american society is so consumer heavy. Everything needs to be bigger, everything must cost something, like heath care, schools, everything. Government should provide those necessities, and your media... the influence it gives shapes your society so badly... Good quote is "Divide and conquer" Divide citizens many ways (Religion, Race, politics, feminism, sexual orientation, etc...) So they can't never come together and fight the power. US government manipulates so much, so people are literally fighting with themselves, while the rich can run to the bank. Don't get me wrong. I fucking love USA as a country. I'm a USA/FIN fan basically in any international sport event, and I'd love to visit east coast and midwest, But almost anything your government does to their citizens makes me feel sick..

Why would there be any desire to travel abroad, why leave a country that has nearly every climate you could want to experience, that is so massive in size that there is too many thing to experience in a lifetime, no super long flights, currency changing, language barriers... If there was a need to experience something different, a trip to Canada or Mexico is right there. Ice is relatively cheap, cheaper then the drink, it also takes up a lot of space. So if they fill your glass half way with ice, you will only have half a glass worth of drink. With out going into a whole lot of math, they put ice in your cup so they can charged you the price for a full cup, while you get only half a cup's worth of drink while only costing them half of what you just paid. It would be about the same as a gas station charging you the price of a gallon of gas but only giving you half a gallon and a bunch of filler.

Hi, American here! I'm going to clarify each point here to make more sense. Yes, tipping is mandatory in most places. However, chain restaurants like McDonald's don't require tips. Some will have tip jars, which you are recommended to put your change in, but you don't have to. But if there's a delivery driver, tips are 70% if not more of their salary. And if you don't tip at a restaurant, don't go back to that restaurant! They will remember you, and they will spit in your food. Yeah, the vacation thing is pretty accurate. Normally if we want a break, we pretend to be sick to get off work, but even then we have very limited sick days. Yep, super sizing is our main thing, its why one of our stereotypes is all of us are fat. I think its meant to give as much food as possible for a lot less money. It definitely means most won't go hungry, buy it also means a lot of us have serious health issues that stem from that. But we do love leftovers! P E A N U T B U T T E R Our sports are basically a whole other religion. Just ask any southern American their favorite sports team and watch the fireworks. I hate prescription drug ads, they're so weird man. Yeah, we already had a game named football so lol whoops Ugh, I hate sales tax, we don't even lower them, we just have sales tax for that. 1 dollar for reeses peanut butter cups, not counting tax of course. I live in Washington, so its pretty high. We legit just chose not to use metric because old ladies asked politely not to change it so we didn't and now we have no way to go back. I dont even know how to use the metric system anymore. Yeah, I didn't even know other people didn't do this. We just like to know what month it was first, sometimes we don't even use the day. This one makes sense to me, we're also changing cigarettes to be the same way. I think its probably just safer so less teens become alcoholics. (Although normally kids just steal from out parents lol.) And thats it, hope that helps!

@@jeffwilliams2828 How did this become a racist thing? It has more to do with early American culture mimicking former British culture. In the past, Britain did do tips, but that quickly fell by the wayside. It wouldn't be America if we didn't try [and fail] to copy British culture. They tipped, so we tipped. They rid themselves of tipping, we kept it. It's as simple as that. Another British hand-me-down: "saloons" which were supposed to be like British "salons" but were distinguished from another kind of American "salons" where you can get your beauty treatment.....not to mention that "saloons" weren't the most classiest of places, unlike their British counterparts. They aren't legally required to be payed the _normal_ minimum wage but instead are payed a _different_ minimum wage if you can prove your employees are being payed by tips. Yes, America has two established minimum wages, one normal and one for tipping, all because early American culture really wanted to copy British culture (but failed to do so in many other respects). So, if you really want to blame "racism" for things that aren't necessarily racist to begin with, blame Britain. After all, we were just trying to be like them....which begs the question why did we even want to be our own nation in the first place. Hmmm....

American restaurant portion sizes are generally way too big. We often take half the meal home for a second (or even third) meal. But when they show those sky high burgers next to European tapas that is a bit much. 3:22 General Consensus here in the states(as far as tipping at food places go) is that at fast food places, regardless if you go through the drive through or dine inside, you don’t have to tip(there’s less social pressure/anxiety about not tipping at a McDonald’s then, say, an Olive Garden or Applebee’s), though doing so can make somebody’s day: remember once going through the drive through of a McDonald’s, I got extremely used to the people working the drive through just...sounding dead inside, robotically just focusing on getting a task done, doing the next, and repeating until they could leave: one day I pull in, and the worker I get is chipper, sounds full of life, and even asked me how my day had been going when I was getting my food(never been asked before or since I’m a drive through). Honestly, enjoyed the guy’s positivity so much I gave him ten bucks just for being a ball of sunshine. Dude had a smile on his face, and I can hear him start cheering as I pull away(think he was gonna excitedly ‘brag’ about the tip, not sure)

Generally speaking I would say the expense is the prohibitive factor for a lot of people. Vacation days surely has an influence. If you have two to three weeks of vacation, it almost requires you to take all of your vacation time at once to make it a meaningful trip that is worth the expense. Consider also how many people don't have paid vacation. I've traveled quite a bit and highly recommend it but there is certainly enough within the US to keep life interesting.

In the uk you will hear people say "The holidays which I am entitled to" I know the word entitled is not usually seen as a good word but its just a way of saying "it's my right" Being legally entitled to holidays takes the pressure off asking because you are usually saying "these dates or these dates" because YOU ARE GETTING YOUR DAYS OFF just need to sort out when are the best days if you are being nice to your boss 😉👍

Here's the thing about US vacation days: Some Americans are afraid to take vacations because they believe that when they come back they won't have a job anymore. Why? Businesses want to maximize profits. Duh. But A LOT of businesses really take it to extremes and run on the bare minimum of staff to maximize profits. So what happens when you go on vacation? Well, if you're a responsible employee, you designate someone to handle your work while you're gone so everything runs smoothly while you're not there. And that's the problem: If you're not at your job, and not only does nothing go wrong but someone else can do your job and there's for the price of one, that's more fat that can be cut off to maximize profits. BOOM! You're fired. I've known of 3 instances where people got canned within a week of being back to work, one of them wasn't even a vacation, they went to the dentist to have a procedure that kept them out of the office for a day and a half! So for a significant amount of Americans that actually GET vacation and/or sick days, they kind of see them as a booby trap: Take'm if you dare! We'll see if you're still employed at the end of the month!

About ice: it’s usually included by default but you can ask for no ice. There are a couple of reasons why you might do this. Some folks just find ice uncomfortable, dentally speaking. Also, you get a lot more of the beverage if you don’t get ice. And finally, in some places (especially some large cities) the water tastes truly awful owing to the aggressive chlorination, and the ice made from that water can ruin the taste of the beverage. You’ll also be relieved to know that beer is never served with ice by default.

Other note, in the US military we do not do A.M. and P.M. time. We use 24hr time. We also use DD/MM/YYYY for dates. This is partly so we can be fully operational in joint military exercises/operations with the other members of the NATO alliance. Not to mention it's just a more clear and rational way to express dates and times.

No, soft drinks contain ice to reduce the amount of actual soft drink drank. In a sit down restaurant, in a given meal, a person drinking without ice may drink two glasses full. With ice, they drink three or four as there is less liquid in the glass. Both people drink the same amount of liquid, but the person with ice has drank less soft drink overall because the 8ce has melted over time. In fast food without refills, it simply means less soft drink needed to fill the cup. Ask for no ice, and at most fast food places they still use the auto-fill dispensor that dispenses a measured amount, you can see the space that would have been filled by the displacement of ice.
