This is actually my favorite from Adam. I love his bad-boy edginess.

Spot on with the mid-point critique! That was exactly the case. Adam, a unique and unorthodox figure from American Idol, faced challenges with studios and mainstream media trying to control him, and this sound is one of those cases where he didn’t have full control over his image yet, despite experimenting with the pop star persona he once tried too hard to attain. However, his refusal to comply led to public disputes and, what many believe, marked the end of his mainstream career. Others, though, celebrate this as the moment he solidified his status as a trailblazer and icon, particularly after performing alongside Queen.

Thank you for another Adam reaction! He is getting ready to make his Broadway debut as the emcee in Cabaret, replacing Eddie Redmayne, he can do anything! Lol

This was right after American Idol, and the record label dictated a lot of what he put out. It is the same song you are talking about from Music Awards. Thankfully he broke free and has done things his way since

I did burst out laughing when you paused the video halfway and said his voice was too restrained.... Admittedly, he's freer to let loose in live versions too e.g. there's a stripped for iheartradio version which has one of his highest notes for this song that I've heard, I think.

he actually likes doing pop music though, especially club bangers like this one. i still find it enjoyable after all these years. if you want something more edgy and rock-y from him you should check out his performance of "crawl thru fire" (an original song that he co-wrote) before he went on american idol. he already had the 70s glam rock thing going on with out of this world vocals

Liked the sound applied to the beat but can't figure out what is making it??

A very slight George Michael vibe to it with a more modern disco. Too much like club music for my cup of tea.
