This song led Ireland into having conversations and a fresh new perspective on special needs, in turn led to all sorts of radical moves towards a much better outlook and way forward. Bare in mind this was 1970 Amazing influence.

Good things come to those who wait. As ever, Luke sang with such passion you'd easily believe it was about his own child. The show, incidentally, is The McCann Man, hosted by Jim McCann, a member of the Dubs 1974-79. The fiddler here is John Sheahan, also of the Dubs.

Phil’s son was born with Down syndrome. It was pretty taboo back then. Luke could just sing at the drop of a hat. Jim Mc Cann had his own show and he invited guests on. Thank you for your excellent reaction to this video. Luke was my godfather.

The song was wrote by phil coulter about his child who had downsyndrome and alot the struggles that come w that especially during a time where the Catholic church vilified people with special needs and blamed the parents for it alot of the time. When you listen to irish music one of the strongest themes is shame and confliction.

Sadly the invasion of those who care not a bit for our culture means that everything we hold dear to our hearts is now fair game in their senseless and disrespectful destruction of our society. The Irish will never be free from one form of oppression or another it seems. We don't want them here and they don't care for our history and traditions.
