We were still wearing these horrible frag jackets in BAOR on guard duties in the 80s. But we were issued the much improved INIBA body armour in Northern Ireland. Thanks for the video Simon

When I was scrounging kit for my cadets at a returned stores group. I saw a pallet with experimental frag vests. Some looked like they had shoulder protectors like American football suits. On one the protective filling not only had the Kevlar it also had Titanium plates arranged like armadillo scales.

That’s quite a. Late “go faster” one. The first one I was issued in Bessbrook in 77 was marked inside PFC Washington 😱

I was under the impression it was for fear of the zippers melting and hindering someone from removing the vest.

Is this the same type of frag jacket that was issued to Irish troops on border duty?

Not really, Irish army ones had cotton covers with plastic buttons
