The throb of the 37 - hear it occasionally at Stratford a handful throb through better than the procession of 66 all day long dominating freights

Yes, not much variety at SF these days.....a few 90s i suppose on Liners and that's about it!

What a pleasant summer evening that would have made, thrashing along the Highland line in Mk 2s behind a no heat 37 🤗

Yes, it certainly was! The NB ones should have worked the services to Kyle of Lochalsh and the ETH locos on the Edinburgh's but even in summer the weather was so poor on the Kyle run, they got the ETH locos. My day started off by Sprinter to Dingwall to get the first loco hauled train from Kyle back in to Inverness to drop into the loco hauled Inv-Edin-Inv working. The one i changed to was the other Edin-Inv working that started its day at Perth (did a Perth to Edin before heading to Inverness, did the reverse in the evening) which i rode back to Inverness, then to Pitlochry for the return Inverness train. Plenty of thrash, some good video and a few more miles in the haulage book!

Lovely video again! Seeing Dingwall station brings back some memories for me .... I had a trip using a 2 week all-line rover ticket during July 1997, I made it to Kyle of Lochalsh but on the return to Inverness, the Class 156 I was aboard was struck by a lorry at a level crossing in Dingwall! Thankfully no injuries and only a big dent in the body side of the 156 and some scraped paint ... a coach returned me to Inverness after a couple of hours delay! 👍

Wow! That's a bit naughty, typical road user thinking that there won't actually be a train around! Sooner or later you luck runs out......

Very enjoyable video,. Those earlier mark two coaches are my favourite type of carriage and I'm always struck by how rakes used on railtours tend not to feature them. Are there any rakes of those mark twos in use for charters at all? The first class compartments were luxury indeed!

I'm not too sure what the current railtour stock is these days.... I know there are still MkI's and II's in use along with MkIII's not their passenger use had nearly finished.....

I know west coast at carnforth have a selection of each of the mk2 types, though I think only 2 mk2b, only one of which is currently mainline registered. I think Riviera have a couple as well. There ate a few lurking on preserved railways as well.

Cool video as usual Soi. Only one of the 37's survived the EWS (Every Working loco Scrapped) cull - that's 37175 that's still out and about with Colas - www.railwayherald.co.uk/imagingcentre/view/588321/LC
