I had a older woman that came by to my home that we're working on...and i said come on in...she grew up here and her little girl footprints were painted on our floor in the front room...they were still there, we hadnt started that room yet...she took all the pictures she wanted and now she is a friend on messenger and we talk often...if we have to change the wood i am framing that section for her and sending it to her. Its so sweet.

I totally understand. I’m 45 with 3 grown kids and about to have my first grandchild. But my daddy died in 2010 and my momma died in November and I feel completely lost. Like I’m floating around homeless! I think home is more than where you grew up, it’s the people that go along with it. Much love ✌️💚😁

Did this about 11 years ago when visiting my Daddy over the summer when he was at work (parents divorced,he got the house) and I couldn't help crying my eyes out. So much of the big aspects were the same, and the pictures of us were what set me off. He came home to me crouched on the carpet holding a picture of us, and he didn't say a word, just picked me up, put me in his lap in his lazyboy rocker, and rocked me til I calmed down. Then we had a long conversation about all our memories....😭😂🤣😅😆😁🥰😍🤩😘🤪🥹

Denmark here... This is my favorite country femsle singer. I'm learning to sing country and Miranda is my number one. I have sing: Over U, If I was a cowboy and the House that build me. I have my debut as a singer to the Music School christmas concert in december 22.... and I choose this song... Because is about good childhood memories and leaving your parents home - and have your own. And something I can relate too. I love her voice... I'm a Alto with range - but can sing high notes. . So this a great song for me..... Give Tin man, Over U, Tourist and If I was a cowboy a chance. I also sing Ashley McBryde,,,,, Great too...

I agree. Some of the specialness of things like photos, letters, and face to face interactions seem to be a lost art and joy. It’s a shame. That sense of excitement was such a pleasure that an entire generation doesn’t get to experience or appreciate.

I was so excited to see that you were reacting to "The House That Built Me"! And, of course, you didn't let me down! You never do. I enjoyed your reaction very much, SPECTACULAR! I actually had requested this song and I would love to see what you think about another song by Miranda, which is titled "Kerosene". It is extremely different and you see another side of her! Both are great, just different! Her voice and guitar playing are WONDERFUL. And, most of her songs, she writes herself, maybe with a co-writer. She is one of my favorite Country singers! Thank you so much for reacting to this beautiful song!

Binge watching some older reactions 😆 I'm not a big Miranda fan. But this song is just beautiful. My family moved a lot as a kid so I don't have any one place I'd call home. But I did do this at my grandparents old house the last time I traveled to California. It was sad but also good.

Lovey reaction. Have had this happen to me. Younger lady stopped by, I now live in her grandmothers old house and she spoke to me and asked if it was ok if she took a picture. I said of course and took her picture for her of her in front of the house and later learned we were related through my great grandmother. Thanks for the reaction and bringing back that recent memory of her old memories

Dear friend Listening to this song and the way you are describing it, is definitely bringing tears to my eyes. My parents passed away 3 years ago, and my boyfriend and I helped cleaned the house out after they passed. It stood empty for awhile, and we would drive past it and sometimes tears would come flowing down. We love in Sacramento, but we go visit my brother in Oakland twice a month and we drive past the house. There are other people living there now, but I will always think of it as mama's and papa's house. I wonder if I ask the people who live there now if they would let me come in and look around. It's just like Miranda said , but instead of having a dog buried in the yard , we have kitties buried in the yard. My mom loved kitty cats. OK. I'll let you go. I'll talk to you later

Loved many of your comments. My older sister and I drove by our old neighborhood about 10 years ago and decided to knock on the door. We are in our early 60's and the area has hit hard times and run down a lot. Luckily, though they were shocked at first, they kindly let us in to walk around a bit. I was amazed at how tiny the house seemed to me now - but so many memories came flooding back. It was bittersweet and will always be part of my childhood. Thank you.

No, I never had roots to a " home"...think the longest time in one area that we had growing up was 10 yrs. Third grade thru high school..I married a military man...so our children never had those type of home roots either. Kinda sad now that I think about it BUT, in exchange for the lack of roots, they did get to experience much of the United States and some other countries...guess there's pros & cons to both.
