The home my husband and I own is a "centennial" home. It's over 100 years old. 1 day I was sitting on the steps and a man pulled up in front of the house. His Grandparents had owned our home. He came in and said not much of anything has changed since back then even. I had just taken down a coat hanger that was on the wall. Turns out he had made that for them and I asked if he would like it. He just lit up. It was so interesting to watch his eyes see now and back then.

When this song came out my girlfriend called me and said that they wrote a song about me. I grew up in my home, I had the back bedroom and did my homework and learned to play my guitar in there. In my backyard is where my dogs are laid to rest. I’m now 54 and Im now back at my child hood home living here and have gone back to my old bedroom and played my guitar. I love how life comes full circle sometimes. I still want to see your reaction to “Skin” by Rascal Flats.

My grandma and grandpa sold a house they built together when I was about 8 yrs old. Lots of happy memories of when I was younger. I drove by that house going to see my cousin a few years ago, the nostalgia was real. I had just lost my grandma around then too. In fact I think that's why we specifically drove by that area.

Yes, it happens. I went back to my childhood home when I saw an ad for a yard sale the current owners were having. The thought of going in had never entered my thoughts. When the owner found out I’d lived there, not going in was no longer an option. She was completely lovely and practically pulled me/us (hubby was there too) into the home giving me/us free reign to look anyplace we wanted. My husband and I were able to stand in the exact spot where he’d first told me that he loves me. I wouldn’t take anything for that experience.

Some times I drive passed my grandparents' house always gets me emotional, maybe one day I'll work up the courage to at least ask to see it one more time I would love to I know I'd probably cry. Every Sunday we had dinner there after church, Christmas Eve we'd go to church and then go back to gram and pap's house. My sister and I would open our stockings and eat homemade chocolate my gram made for us. Spent summer days there when my sister and I were too young to stay home alone while mom and dad were working. My grandparents have since passed away I miss them and that house dearly.

I remember my grandparents house on the farm the most (8 hours drive from where I live) and the funny part is the house I live in is my childhood house (from age 5) but I visited my dad and his side of the family (and my 4 sisters) all the time growing up and my grandma was such a cook (as was my mom) so we would bake and cook constantly. Make rock candy and lemon tarts and homemade bread and buns. My love of cooking was implemented at such a young age and it was great seeing such a large family just scarf dozens of baked goods in a night as my moms side of the family is fairly small (the ones we interacted with anyway) and my stepdad family lived in another province.

This song hits me in the feels. Since I've been old enough to remember I've lived in 4 different places, the longest one for over 20 yrs. I moved after my mom passed away. This song makes me think a lot. I'm not the same person I was when I lived there and at times I miss certain parts of me the way I was back then. But there are other parts I wouldn't go back to for anything. I only live maybe 10 miles from there now. I think if I went back it would be very emotional and I'm not sure if it'd be in a good way or I'd just start really missing my mom even more. This song always makes me remember things from when I was growing up and makes me wonder if I had a chance would I go through our old house. I honestly don't know if I would or not.

I had a house from birth to like 23 or 25. It changed for me when my dad died when I was 17. After my mom moved out and closer to my brother and I; the rest of our family (grandparents, Aunties, cousins, ect), I went to my old house rang the door bell, showed them my permit/probationary driver's license that has the address and explained that I'm Denise's daughter and could I come in to take a look around. The wife remembered my mom and she said yes, of course, I always told your mom she could stop by and ask to see the house whenever. Our last name was still slightly visible on the mailbox. The walked me around the house and we talked. They were about it and the lady said to me that, she saw that at first I was a bit teary eyes and I smile and explained that coming back here is hard. It was where I was with my dad for 17 almost 18 years. So many memories came flooding back all at once. She said that I could come back at anytime. They were wonderful people.

So now my nieces are growing up in the same house that me and my sisters did :) My parents were the second homeowners of it; they got it from an older couple, who didn’t have kids in the house, back in like 1985. It was destroyed in a house fire in 1993 (besides the two back bedrooms), and was rebuilt (cheaply....) from the same foundation. The inside was different though...I don’t know what it looked like before cuz I was born 9 months after the fire. Lol

It makes me sad that most of today's kids will never get to experience that kind of childhood because they live through screens and other people's lives instead of living their own. I'm so so so glad we didn't have social media or even cell phones. Every moment was truly experiencing the moment and that is priceless because it lives inside your heart forever.

You are so right about how trying to record the moment takes you out of it. Instead of being a part of it you become a spectator.

My constant "home" was my grandparents, and I live right behind them now. But those 2 acres and that little white house hold thousands of memories. That kitchen table is where I opened my college acceptance letter, and where we still have family dinners, and all holiday's.

I do have a house like this. I lived there from about 2 months old until I was 17. I was adopted as a baby and one of the stipulations for my adoption was that my parents couldn't move out of the county the adoption agency was in until the process was completed. They lived in a city at the time where the area they were in was becoming really bad. Not the type of place you'd want to raise children. The agency wasn't satisfied that my parents could provide me with a safe home as a result. They had to either move or give me up. My parents didn't make very much money between them though, and there was only one house in the county that was within their budget. They put in an offer, but it was below asking price, and it was rejected. My mum showed up on the doorstep of the house one day, crying. The elderly lady who lived there invited her in and my mum, through tears, explained that they were in the process of adopting a baby girl, and the adoption process would be stopped if they couldn't find a house in a safer area within the county. The woman called her real estate agent the next day and told her she wanted to accept the offer. That house created my family. Without it, who knows where I'd be? I drive by every now and again to see it. The owners since have taken care of it, which is nice to see.

And I'm in the moment 70% of the time but also feed my gut when it tells me to capture something.

My grandparents house. My great grandfather built it, its coming up one 100 years old now. I feel like I have every creak my grandfather's steps would make as he'd come in from hunting memorized.

Oh yeah. My parents had to sell the house I grew up in my senior yr of high school. My dad was an alcoholic, went to rehab it’s all good! Leaving the house was heart wrenching and the situation made it more heartbreaking!! This ones a tear jerker for me!! Good tears though!!

It was an apartment for me. I grew up there basically. I lived there from 2 to 12, for 10 years. There is so many memories in the small little apartment and it was so hard to leave and I still miss it💕

I'm new to your channel but I Love it! I'm 50 so I rem when there wasnt always a camera to get pics with, so we just Lived it! I do wish i had captured more of it.. I wish I had movies of my daughters when they were small. I have pics but no video because the camcorders where Expensive when they first came out! Now that I have daughters I'm sorta torn because I Can capture special moments at any given time but I find that, like you said, we tend to not live the moment because we're so busy trying to film it. Anyway, I'm loving your stuff. Thank you for your service to our country as well. Sending love your way from Tn! #ArmyWife PS; listen to Mirandas song Tin Man..it'll get ya!
