British Royalist Song - Soldiers of the King

Soldiers of the King is a song written and composed by Leslie Stuart. The song is often sung and published as "Soldiers of the Queen" depending on the reigning monarch at the time. The tune was originally composed by Stuart as a march celebrating the opening of the Manchester Ship Canal. The lyrics were added at a later date and the title changed. The song served as the regimental (quick) march of the Queen's Regiment, 1966-1992. In 1992 the Queens Regiment and Royal Hampshires became the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment who now use the song Soldiers of the Queen as their regimental song.

My grandfather has personally met King George VI when he visited Malta in 1943 to inspect the damage inflicted by German and Italian bombing. He always told me that he was a gentlemen of merit and wisdom.

George VI was probably one of the bravest kings that we have ever known. He was one who feared public speaking, kingship and was in constant fear that his family would end up the same way as his Russian cousins but he served us in the wake of his disloyal brother’s abdication and helped us through the toughest of years that the country had to endure, that is why he is one of my favourite monarchs alongside his daughter. His grandson has just become king, so this song has become more relevant than ever. This is from someone who is from gen z (born in 2000) and is more left winged but still respects and admires the place of our monarchy.

My family always tell the anecdote that the king and my great grandfather had at the same time the same operation the king by the teacher of the doctor who did it by my great grandfather the king died sadly at this operation but my greatgrandfather survived. I have no idea if the story is true but my grandmother loves to tell it.
