This is really weird...... I watched an hour long documentary yesterday on KZbin called Andy's archives... all about Diana Dors... Lionel Jeffries revealed that when Alan Lake shot himself a few months after her death, he was villifield for leaving a young son alone... But the real reason was not because he was being selfish, but because he was suffering from brain cancer and Diana was then only person that knew (she told no one) and he felt unable to cope without her....It was a very interesting program, she never got the proper recognition she deserved. She was a very underestimated character actress....

I love your program and watch it daily. I am so sick of the media headlines that seem now anti-royal, the royal tour, and the Prince Philip Memorial being featured this week alone. It is especially disgusting, as it is the queen’s unique jubilee, and she deserves some peace in this her special year. It is also a bit worrying about the power the press wields as chatting with my 17-year-old granddaughter, her views appear to be based entirely on those sensational headlines. Yours now is the only program where I hope to get an unbiased view of current events, so thank you very much.

I first saw Diana Dors in Adam Ant’s video for ´Prince Charming’ in 1981. I instantly fell in love with her. My mother explained who she was. After that I remember seeing her in films on a Saturday afternoon (days of three channels, it was a film or sport and my Granny was boss of the TV!). I was a young teenager when she died and I think it was the first time I was saddened by the passing of someone that I didn’t personally know. She was only in her fifties. So talented and beautiful.

Hi Neil, thanks for that story, I loved Diana Doors, I was really little, about three when my paternal Nan was babysitting me one afternoon, she'd told me we were going to watch a film that afternoon and we did, can't say which one, but it had the fabulous Diana Doors in it and I thought she was amazing! My Nan said she had looked like her when she was younger, she hadn't. Then I recall seeing her in other things and appearing on various shows, I remember her in a figure hugging emerald satin dress and she looked like a goddess. I was still pretty young when she died, but I remember it and was sad about it at the time. It seemed impossible that this absolutely gorgeous blonde bombshell, so vivacious, a thousand watt smile, she was like a human firework, i couldn't take my eyes off of her. It seemed impossible that she was just not her anymore. She, I'm sure, was the reason I adored a lot of platinum blondes, my favourites, purge than Diana herself were Marilyn Monroe (of course) and Debbie Harry, then later Gwen Stefani. I don't think we'll ever have stars the like of Diana Doors and Marilyn Monroe ever again, not just because they were stunning and special, but it was the age they were in. Fewer celebrities and even fewer stars. When being a celebrity didn't induce the response of "sorry, who? ". I remember when my daughter was three and we were staying with my parents, they were out and we'd got dressed to go to the gardens opposite to play on the playground, I was about to switch the telly off when Marilyn came in screen, in black and white, and my daughter, staring at the screen just sat down, right in front of the telly and stared at the screen. "Mumma, who is she? She's so beautiful." I told her who she was and said let's go to the swings "can we go after this?" I agreed, thinking she'd get bored in a little while. Nope, she didn't, we sat and watched the whole thing. It just goes to show that the likes of DD and MM really did have that captivating star quality. Here's to all the blonde bombshell stars who lit up the silver screens, and then our own, who shone so brightly, even in black and white. 🥂🌟 I bet they'd appreciate your sartorial elegance in the tie department! #kingofties PS. The bills are crazy, my brother moved into his own one bed flat around Christmas, he got his first lecky bill last week, £800 odd quid! You should become a boater Neil, far cheaper and holidays are barely any more expensive than normal living expenses. ⚓️

My husband's grandma is buried at the same cemetary as DD & AL. DD & AL occupy fabulous marble-edged side by side graves. Up until a few years ago, both were beautifully clean and lovingly cared for and always full of gorgeous fresh flowers. Not anymore though. Sadly, the two graves and headstones are somewhat neglected, and the once sparking white marble is stained in places. The last time we were there, the few flowers were dead. Sad, but even burial plots go the same way as those within. RIP to all those in one of the loveliest cemetarys I have ever been in.
