Da Guys tf are u saying? The people that played in that era almost ALWAYS say wilt was the best. It’s common knowledge that wilt was the superior player. And he dominated ever matchup against russel. The problem was that his focus early on was only his numbers and his individual dominance over team play. Russel didn’t care as much about his numbers. He did what it took to win. He was a better winner. But that doesn’t make him the better individual player. U can erase stats and look at their skill sets and it’s no contest. Crazy fun fact: Kobe averaged 45% from the field in his career. It is impressive based on how much he scored. But Steph curry is averaging 45% FROM 3PT RANGE on his career and 40% from 28 feet or further. ( for reference the 3 pt line is 23 feet from the rim at its furthest point. And steph also averaged around 47% on 3s fron 30-35 feet for most of his career and he attempts way more of all of those shots than anybody.
@zionthedon77454 жыл бұрын
This range is more than instant points, and momentum shifting daggers. It also means that he needs to be guarded as soon as he steps across the half court line, and in the playoffs usually even double teamed at the halfcourt line which means his teammates now have then entire halfcourt to work with and a 4 v 3 advantage.

In basketball the magic numbers you're looking for to determine if you're great at a certain area of shooting is 40% for three-pointers, 50% for all field goals (shots made throughout the course of play, not via free throws), and 90% for free throws. If you're near or above any of those marks you're a pretty damn good shooter. As for Kobe, 45% for him isn't bad especially considering he had a few seasons in the middle of his career where the Lakers weren't all that good and he likely had to take on much of the burden of scoring in order for the Lakers to be successful, hence the reason he had to shoot more.

Honestly, a lot of people hate this list, but I'm not one of them. I honestly find it hard to put Lebron James top 10.. I mean, who would you even remove to get him in there? Maybe Kobe, Duncan, or Shaq? Honestly, there is no way you can put him above Jordan, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Bird, Hakeem, or Bill Russell(and honestly I'm not even a huge fan of Magic or Russell but I respect what they've done in terms of being the most dominant at their positions and the success they've had). It's just hard to fit Lebron James into the all time top 10, he's had a lot of success, no doubt - he's been able to consistently lead teams to deep playoff runs.. but even so it's just hard to say he's more dominant than some of the other players on this list. Heck, there are even some other players not mentioned that could give Lebron a rough time being ranked higher. Players like Oscar Robertson, Moses Malone, Dr. J, Jerry West, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Isiah Thomas, Scottie Pippen, just to name a few off the top of my head. Lebron still has a couple more years left in his career though, we'll see if he can edge some of these greats out. Also, I'm happy to see Hakeem get some love on a video though.. he's definitely not overrated here, in fact I think he's one of the most underrated players of all time. I believe when he retired, he was top 10 in points, rebounds, blocks, and steals, as a 7 foot center! The dude was unbelievable. EDIT: I forgot to mention, one thing people overlook when ranking players is defensive ability. I think one reason a lot of people don't rank Lebron higher is because he isn't elite when it comes to defense. Yes, he gets some nice chase down blocks here and there, but he's never been known as being a GREAT on the ball defender, or a great team defender. He's a decent rebounder, and he can get some spectacular blocks from time to time, but he's definitely not on the same defensive level as some of the people ranked above him on this list. I think why a lot of people rank Kobe and Jordan higher than Lebron is because they were both monsters on the defensive end, some of the best on the ball defenders of all time. In terms of players on this list, Duncan, Kobe, Kareem, Jordan, and Hakeem all have more all-defensive selections. It's not something that should be totally overlooked in my opinion, anyways.

Wilt averaged 50.4 points per game in the 61-62 season. The second best scorer Walt Bellamy averaged 31.6 ppg. the 86-87 season Jordan averaged 37.1 ppg and in second was Dominique Wilkins at 29 ppg. Wilt holds the record for most 50 plus point games at 118. Jordan is second with ...31. Having said all that Wilt probably wasn't the greatest basketball player of all time but he was the strongest and best athlete. He could bench press 500 pounds. He ran track in college and held the big 8 high jump record. Think about that, a 7 foot 2 man who ran track! Several years after Wilt stopped playing; he toyed with the idea of a comeback. On the day he visited the Knicks' offices in Madison Square Garden; he talked to Red Holzman, and then strode out to the elevator. When it opened, two deliverymen were struggling with a dolly piled high with boxes of office supplies, mostly letterheads and envelopes. The load was so heavy, the elevator had stopped maybe four inches below the floor level and now the deliverymen were huffing and puffing, but they couldn't raise the dolly high enough to get it on the floor level. After maybe two minutes of the deliverymen's huffing and puffing, Wilt, his biceps bulging in a tank top, peered down at them and intoned, "Gentlemen, maybe I can help." They stepped back, he stepped into the elevator, grabbed each end of the rope slung under the dolly and without much exertion, quickly lifted the dolly onto the floor level. Looking up in awe, the deliverymen said, "Thank you." Wilt said, "You're welcome." Wilt stepped into the elevator and rode down to the street level as another witness followed the two deliverymen toward the Knick offices and asked, "How much does all this weigh?" They quickly surveyed the stack of big boxes of office supplies. "Close to 600 pounds," one said.

Pretty much everyone already had him top 10 when that video was made so I’m not really sure why he isn’t in it. He already had 2 championships and 4 MVPs. Kobe’s ranking is pretty standard. Almost any list you look at will have him around 9-13. He has a ton of really passionate fans though.

Yes 45% from someone who's a true shooter is very good. Bigs that always play around the rim and mainly score on dunks you'll see them around 50 - 55% to put it in context only a few players have ever joined the 50 40 90 club. That's 50% fg percentage. 40% from 3. And 90% from the free throw line
@SilkenShame4 жыл бұрын
45+ FG percent is really good for a high scoring perimeter player. Steph Curry and Larry Bird could be considered the two best shooters in NBA and they have like a 47.3% and 49.6% career FG. As far as broken rims, it's happened quite a number of times, you can find videos of them. Check out Darrell Dawkins, he brook backboards with such frequency he is often credited as the reason for the introduction of the "break away" used today.

Bill Russell won 11 championships (8 in a row at one point) due to the fact that there were only like 8 teams in the league at that time and the Celtics were WAYYYYY better and deeper than any other team. Winning 8 in a row will never happen again. It’s impressive but people don’t put context on it

Keep in mind when the original video was made. It is several years old! But yes, I’m not a Lebron fan but he is most certainly No. 2 all time. As you said you can debate the rest from there!
@tonyboots29584 жыл бұрын
J I don’t agree with the list but anyone who knows basketball history knows that LeBron is not top 2 and certainly not arguably number 1. At best, he just cracks the top 5, and to me he’s outside the top 5. But his career isn’t over yet so I think he’ll eventually be top 5 most likely, maybe top 3 depending on how he finishes his career....but top 2 right now? Yea I don’t think so.
@liammilne22424 жыл бұрын
Tony Boots I can understand to a degree why you may think that way but at a certain point he needs to be viewed at a higher level than everyone else. Who do you have above him? Larry bird? I think overall he has surpassed him, Kareem? Okay I can maybe see it but if longevity is his case Lebron covers that front too. The only real knock on Lebron has been his finals losses and lack of drive/determination/killer instinct which he lacked in the earlier days. It’s clear to see he picked that up later in Miami and certainly by the time he rejoined cleveland. He beat the best regular season team ever which was insanely good at the time with 1 all NBA talent beside him and an all star level talent too as his support. But the best part about it was that they came back from a 3-1 deficit which was the biggest series comeback in NBA history for the finals! Especially in the manor they finished off that series. As I’ve said not a big Lebron fan but once he is retired I think he will truly get recognised for his talent and achievements. Not with the mindset he will achieve much more and even if he does win more chips it’s not like he will be the no. 1 option anyway.

Liam Milne I mean it’s kinda weird to say at a certain point he needs to be viewed at a higher level than everyone else...he’s gotta earn that. At this point, the ship has sailed for being number 1 or at a higher level than everyone else. I think at this point, best case scenario is top 3, but I think most likely top 5 when his career is over. Right now I do have Bird ahead of him but I think he’ll surpass Bird. I have Bird ahead of LeBron because Bird was more impactful from the moment he came in the league and basically accomplished what LeBron has in about half the time LeBron did, and on top of that, prime vs prime, Bird was the better player in my opinion, and still just edges out LeBron as the greatest SF in NBA history. My top 3 are MJ, Russell & Kareem, followed by Magic & Bird rounding out the top 5...I currently have Bron outside the top 5 with Wilt & Tim Duncan, but Bron is the only active player in my top 10 so he’s gonna climb up the list. Again, that’s my personal opinion and whether or not you agree, being number 2 or arguably 1 right now is definitely overrating him.

It’s likely LeBron is not added in this list cuz he’s still active and playing in the NBA right now. When and if LeBron retires he’ll most likely be in the top 3 of the best players or greatest players of all time. LeBron is still climbing up multiple all time lists right now. So when he decides to retire, he might also be at the top 2 or 3 in most of those all time record lists. Again like the person in the video said, this is their preference on who they think is the top 10. Everybody is going to have their opinion and their own reasons on their top 10 best players in the NBA.

This video is older and LeBron was still in the prime of his career so that’s probably why he wasn’t included. LeBron is in the top 10, at best just makes the top 5 and is still playing so will most likely be top 5 by the end of his career, maybe even top 3. Magic is very underrated on this list, should be top 5, and as great a player as Hakeem was, he’s rated too high but is deserving of top 10. My personal list. 1. MJ 2. Bill Russell 3. Kareem 4. Magic 5. Larry Bird 6. Wilt 7. Tim Duncan 8. LeBron (for now) 9. Shaq 10. Hakeem Kobe is right outside the top 10. Good content, keep doing basketball videos...it’s always fun watching reactions from people that don’t know much about basketball.

Just looking at shooting percentage is a bad way to measure efficiency because of the different amount of points you get per shot. For example, it´s better to shoot 33% from the 3-point line (avg. of 1 point pr. shot) compared to 45% in the midrange(midrange shots only rewards 2 points pr made shot) which would give you 0,9 points per shot. The stat True shooting percentage takes this into account but basketball efficiency is to complicated to be boiled down to only one statistic.

Jordan is reguarded as the best ever by 95% of fans. While there is SOME debate over it, it is pretty consistent that Lebron is the second greatest, although some argue and have fair points that it should be kareem, Kobe, Bird, Johnson, Wilt and others. Most people's top ten would be something like 1. Jordan 2. Lebron 3. Kareem 4. Kobe 5. Russel 6. Wilt and so on... its a highly contested debate but everyone agrees Jordan is one and most agree Lebron is two.

I don't think most Fans believe Lebron is #2. I think most fans think he's somewhere in the top ten, but putting him over players like Wilt and Kareem and even Bird would be really tough for true fans who know the history of the game. He has at least a few more years left, so let's see if he can win another championship or two before he retires, then we can rank him.

@Josh derp Lebron played in the weakest era of the NBA since the 60s, He's an offensive Star against no real opposition. Lebron belongs below everyone on this list, and then another thirty or so places, Scottie Pippen would have wiped the floor with Lebron.
