British Transport Police responding with siren and lights (Compilation)

A compilation of multiple British Transport Police cars, vans and specialist units responding with siren and lights in London, Bristol, Birmingham and Worcester, UK.
The British Transport Police (BTP) are tasked with policing Britain's railway network; including the London Underground. The fully-sworn officers enforce law and public safety on trains, tracks, stations and railway property. The force is funded by the rail industry and not the Government.
Often referred to as a 'police fire engine' by the viewers, the Emergency Response Unit at 0:28 responds to disasters and incidents involving the London Underground - such as persons trapped under trains. Previously Transport For London (TFL) Emergency Response Units (ERU) weren't authorised to use siren and lights - this lead to a partnership with the British Transport Police (BTP) to use their blue-light trained officers. As a result this has considerably reduced the response time of the TFL engineers who staff the units for emergencies on the London Underground. A much newer version is seen at 11:48. BTP used to have an amazing fleet, good lights and everything, but that bloomin TVP fleet agreement has produced some horrific setups. Great compilation!

I agree, the new BTP cars with the TVP light setup just doesn't work. Both services have now also got new Peugeot cars and vans, I'm not the biggest fan of either of them.

I love BTP and that amazing and super rare catch; one of the most rare things anyone can ever see in the emergency service world (BTP pulling someone over) at 11:15 is my absolute favourite! Especially with that humourous magnetic beacon. I wonder what they must have done to warrant BTP pulling them over; must be something quite serious as BTP legally only have power outside of railway related property if they deem there to be risk to life, risk of damage to property or their powers are required to assist in carrying out their specific duty. All in all, amazing video!

It's the Emergency Response Unit, it's a technical vehicle used by rail staff to attend incidents, clear them and open up the network again. The only reason it's set up as a police vehicle is because the British Transport Police are the only agency in the rail network authorised to use siren and lights, so a police officer drives it to get to incidents quickly. There are non-police versions also but their response time is very lengthy in London traffic.

Yeah it's quite funny they look like it but it's actually an Emergency Response Unit which is actually operated by TFL who use them to respond to serious incidents where an engineer and advanced equipment is needed. They are operated by TFL but they are partnered with BTP so that they can have blue lights because the Home Office being the Home Office decided to deny them that capability. But yeah they do look quite entertaining. Imagine being pulled over by one of those things! 😄

@@EastSussex999 TfL couldn't utilise emergency warning equipment because there is no provision in law for the Home Office to make that exemption for them - it would require a change in legislation. Not worth the hassle when things work just fine.
