BRITISH WW2 TANKS WERE CRAZY - Avenger in War Thunder - OddBawz

The Avenger in War Thunder is a British Medium Tank that has an extendable roof and a 17 pounder cannon.
Unusually this tank used to be considered a Tank Destroyer and recently was moved to being a Medium Tank. Either way, it fits both roles pretty well even though it doesn't have a machine gun!
The Avenger is fast and nimble. It also has an incredibly fast reload speed and seriously punchy cannon with 190mm of penetration. Just don't depend on it for its reverse gear! :)

@Libtards Still Cant Silence Me 13 The game definitely encourages agressive maneuvers, especially since they take battle activity to calculate earnings now if I'm not mistaken. The problem is this is not very well communicated to the player while ingame. Once a player starts playing passive, gets killed by an agressive flanker, respawns and dies again to the same person because now that person is in a very good position. they look at the after action results and see that they barely made any SL and RP. This would very likely make them think, "I should try to not die next time" which will probably make them continue to play passively and it's a never ending cycle. Meanwhile those aggressive players usually end up being the ones that get like 6-10 kills in the battle and get loads of rewards. The good rewards become a good incentive to continue to play aggressive. These two types of players are encouraged by the game to stick to their playstyle, but unfortunately one playstyle will be more likely to result in a win than the other.

It's just really hit or miss... sometimes i'll get some match where i get 14 kills in a shit tank without ever dying once... other times the enemy seems to know where i am at all times, shots that should be easy pens always bounce while shots that should bounce always pen me or some other stupid shit and i just don't manage to do shit... meh

@@Senbei01 I mean, he did hit it going 70mph. I've seen someone's entire windshield collapse in from hitting a turkey vulture at similar speeds. If we assume the fox was in the average weight range of 5-7 kg, with Odd going 31.3 m/s, that fox had a kinetic energy of 5.1-7.2 kilo-joules. That's 2-3x more kinetic energy than a 9mm bullet, so the fox can do a significant amount of damage.

I feel for players like Czak. I think everyone who's played this game have had matches where someone on the enemy team is responsible for all of your deaths. It can be infuriating and I genuinely always feel bad if I realize I've killed a player 2, 3 or 4 times in a match. It's just that feeling where you know they hate you, you've been in those shoes and it's just miserable. I often try to apologize for it but practically nobody listens. I've even had 1 other player who felt the same way I did and apologized for killing me instantly after I respawned from the last time he killed me.

I always try to not do a revenge attack, but I never, ever try to kill someone more than once. It just feels crappy to me as much as the other person. I mean I do get it, but at the same time everyone has been there and knows how infuriating it is to experience that so I just try to be kind to those people in the hopes that it at least makes it less frustrating. I love how Odd sees an Asu57 child and executes him without any hesitation. Side note: I think the jumbo might have gotten an accidental armor buff because shots that used to penitrate (such as the side turret with 190mm of pen) don't pen anymore and engine shots sometimes bounce rounds.

From my own experiences I can say that ping and package loss have resulted in me doing and witnessing some bizarre stuff. Since red skies and the economy changes the servers have really been behaving strangely. Even more than usual. Still, love the vids. Thanks dude. P.S. The passive behaviour you are seeing is as a result of the economy changes. RP and SL earnings have been dramatically nerfed for average and sub average players. Even the decent and good players are earning less. Many free to play players are now simply camping in order to avoid risk because the repair costs have not changed at all. Sitting in one spot and sniping one or two kills is more profitable than losing three vehicles by rushing or flanking, especially on a losing battle. I have tried to play the way I always did only to get shredded by campers so now I do the same. Find a spot and hold it as long as possible even if you lose the match. It sucks but if you lose three tanks in a match you take a loss. Only on your best games do you get a profit now. And the average player does not get many great games.

Well said, that is the way I have to play, I have not put a single euro in to the game, so the only way for me to afford playing some thanks is to play safe, no risks, flank and stay on the edges of the map. I lost 100k in one day cuz of I was trying to do more than my skills allowed, so I decided to play safe, wait for the enemy. And now I loose 1-2 tank per game and get consistently good kills. I also get angry messages about being a coward and worse, and yes that I am, and that is what I have to be.

Can't believe Gaijin made grinding even more painful. I left the game 6 months ago (after being a player for 3+ years) and the reason was the repair costs and BR compression. Basically, when I was grinding the Swedish tree, I got stuck somewhere around Tier 3 and couldn't research items anymore. The only option was to pay with GE and continue. That was the last stroke for me. If what you are saying is true, current WT status must be awful.

@@callidusvulpes5556 Ye good idea, my go to lineup for harvesting SL is German 5.3 with Tiger H1, Panther D and Panzer 4/70, they suite my play style perfectly and I get 2-3 kills per death in them, especially the Tiger, it is so op at its br if you play it right, and full upteers is not to bad.

Every time I play it's my team that feels like bots while the enemy team feels like gods. I watch you and Phly and Bo and I feel like something is just off with you guys gameplay. "I'm going to go through this field and flank the entire enemy team and get 10+ kills" in my games it's, pop up to go over a ridge for half a second or in the open at all and 3 people shoot you from across the entire map through 30 bushes and a small house. It's even worse when even on my bad games sometimes with 2-3 kills and no caps I still somehow end up in the top 3. I keep having games where I have a higher score than the entire enemy team but we lose so bad that I have to leave and do something else.

I love how the Skink SPAA has just been added at 4.7br too, kinda rounding-out this fun 4.7br lineup brilliantly (unless you prefer the 4.3br Yestervark SPAA of course). Just lovely. I think the Avenger has a roof-mounted .303in Bren machine gun for anti-aircraft use, but I'm happy if they never add that ... if it'd force the br up to 5.0!

@@piranlittle1394 it does get annoying checking where those engine sounds are coming from. Was just laying the M48 and had a Marder-A1 flank me and trade missiles with a Bradley. The tank ended up appearing undamaged and the engine kept going. Hope they fix it soon.

I noticed the "bots" recently too. They aren't bots just hard-grinders. They dont angle, they dont play to their environment or neighbours strengths or cover a tank taking the lead. just all W, they dont tactically withdraw, i'm not noob knocking at all. Of course sometimes you just run into the right players and Monke is all you need.

But anyway I doubt they're bots, and it could just be with the various changes to volumetric, that your team just get a bad roll of the dice, and they really might be doing what they should be doing but a coax MG ate the 17 pounder, now their turret crew is crimson from arty and they're too confused to mark the 4 tanks pushing on the map.

It gets better Odd, without pain we would not know happiness. We're with you if you need to unload any disappointments. Much respect for how you stay calm when in pain. Had a motorcycle crash that left me with a broken wrist and over 8 fractures in my face, not including my nose being shattered. The surgery sucked, cost over 5k USD and I had to pay to fix my bike. But... I'm healed! My bike is fixed and it turns out that because of the facial surgery, they noticed that I couldn't breath through my nose the same anyways and ended up giving me better breathing. I'm a mid player and almost always play with a 1.3 to 4.7 lineup. I have poor vision, especially when there's a bunch of shrubbery in the way, so half the time I just don't see anyone. Although I've had many games lately where I can't find anyone to shoot. Or they die just as I finally see them. I tend to be stubborn and spawn everything I can, lol. About the planes, I can kind of understand. I rarely play CAS since either my team gets annihilated or the other. The few times I do, I have a hard time tracking enemy planes once they get into the background scatter below me, which is why if I play planes, I usually play Arcade. Just can't see them unless they're close. I've been in one of Oddz games a few weeks ago. White Rock flying the Italian itar, tar, ier, whatever. I missed my bomb, got badly hit by the plane chasing me (Oddz saved me), and then tried to top-down a KV because I couldn't tell what it was until my shots started to hit, lol. Trust me, I was thinking the same thing Oddz said, lol.

I love this tank. It's basically a Sherman Firefly, but better in so many ways. The only thing it cannot do is drive in reverse effectively, and it doesn't have the 12.7mm MG. But its forward acceleration and hull traverse speed are excellent for what plays exceptionally well as a 17-pounder mounted tank destroyer. Zipping around the map, finding sneaky positions and pulling off flanking maneuvers is very fun.

I mean, a couple of your curiosities can be answered pretty easily. Firstly, you were almost at the enemy spawn within the first couple minutes of the match and by 5.7, a lot of people are used to being spawn camped, so they go to their other spawn and run away from that location. They grab a tank and go hide and hope to maybe get a little bit of damage, a couple kills maybe before they get killed by a horde of enemies that will rush them and then prevent them from participating in the game by spawn killing them essentially the instant their protection runs out.

About the bots. Ive seen a lot of allies that have "alive" tanks and have a blue marker on top of the vehicle but arent moving. The blue marker doesn't have a name either. Just a class indicator. Ex. Light, medium, heavy, TD.

@AddBawz i totally agree !! sometimes SPAA is just SO good it feels like they have Aimbot, which is REALLY odd.. and sometimes tanks shoot and miss like 12 shots, even though im completely in the open

I wonder if those players that are hiding at the edges of the map (and away from the objectives) are trying to stay in the match for longer due to the recent RP changes (i.e. longer activity = more RP)?

I have to admit I am kinda that sort of player, like to flank, like to snipe, like to find a spot and sitt still and harvest kills till i get bombed. But it has nothing with RP to do, that is just how I am comfortable playing the game even tho I sometimes get angry messages.Also cuz I have newer put money in the game that is the only way I can afford to play some thanks, cuz in some thanks I can loose 100k in a day if I am not careful and play to my strengths.

I love my Avenger, it's such a great tank to play. My best moment in it, I decided to say fuck it and put on the Avengers theme before charging in to save my squadmates from three Panzer IV's and two Tiger I's, right as the theme really kicks in I come charging round the corner and start killing em to try and save my squadmates. I did die to bombs right after I killed em all. That is probably the most stand out moment in that tank.

Today i had a guy that killed me while i was in my Leo5, i always go with it first and there was always this guy waiting for me. This happened for 3 games. Im not joking. Same guy, we played 3 games back to back together and he killed me every time. I felt like i was cursed. He was a M1A2 Abrams player and i gotta admit, he was a good one too.

Before my Computer broke and I was playing WT I thought sometimes I'm the only human in this game. No answer when I tipped something in the chat so strategic movements. 90% moving like bots. Really strange

Agree Odd.. something suspicious going on. Noticed it a week or so ago. Feel disconnected from the rest of my team and the match. Noticed the other day how some enemy tanks completely ignore teammates and only focus on me or first seen targets... really weird. Confused, either bots or new way of playing these days.

Yeah I've also noticed lately how I can be sitting there getting shot to bits with 2-3 teammates right next to me and not one of them even tries to kill the tank shooting me, like they are just sitting there watching me die. Or you come across a situation where there are already 2-3 team mates fighting 2-3 enemies, then as soon as you pop up to try and help all the enemies instantly focus you instead of the tanks they were already fighting.

Dont feel bad for you car Odd, it's something that happens to all of us at least 1x in our lives. Be glad you got yours out of the way now XD. If it makes you feel any better I worked my ass off to replace my 13 year old Hyundai. I got a brand new Toyota, 1st new vehicles I've ever owned. I owned it for 2 weeks before I got side swiped in the middle of the night. Hit and run. Never found the guy. Entire driver's side was gone. Worst birthday I've ever had, hands down.

I do find German TDs like the Dicker Max players just find a ridgeline and camp it even when it makes no sense. When I play sweden I bumble around with the pv308 or whatever the little MG 1.3 battletaxi is and just flank them, you can rack up three or four kills on them because they just line up and it makes no sense.
