It’s more of a luxurious cubby with probably a very comfy chair that you can sleep in.

You're right about certain positions having odd behaving players. I think it's because to a certain degree they are on their own and separate from other players. Pitcher, goalie, kickers.

Extreme specialty players. When a guy has a skill that is critically important but also extremely difficult to find at the highest level, a lot of personality quirks that would otherwise get a guy kicked off a team or run out of a sport suddenly become tolerable.

Zack is the best. It's a shame we didn't get him a World Series

What’s ironic is that Zack helped the Royals win a World Series because of his trade to the Brewers, lol.

My best friend of nearly 40 years, played pro ball (AAA). He was a pitcher and is a weird dude. He's had OCD since we met at 12 years old. He's always been constantly late for everything, which the team did not put up with. He played one season and then he was done. As a pitcher, you can't show up to a game almost 2 hours late because you we're "getting ready". He would brush his hair for literally an hour or more. He wouldn't stop until he thought it was perfect. He always carried a napkin in his hand at all times, even while pitching, he would shove it between the webbing and wipe his hands in between pitches. He still carries one to this day. He never sought help because he doesn't see that it's a problem, even after his issues cost him his dream. He was throwing 91 mph fastballs in high-school and now he's driving a truck on graveyard shift. Sad but he doesn't regret anything.

Sad because he didn't achieve our dream of playing in the show. But he is happy where he is so in my opinion it isn't sad. I don't know him but you do. Don't feel sorry for your friend. Be happy for him.

With those certain positions you mentioned in sports. I thonk there are people who want to play a sport but have anxiety or some quirks and they find these positions. Ive known people with kids on the aitistic spectrum or kids with ADD and there's adjustments as they find the right sport, team, position for kids who love a sport but cant quite fit in. Some go to individual sports. I think it"s fascinating. I saw a buddy on twitter struggle to find a team for 12 yr old kid to play because the coach didnt want to deal with his energy or 'disruption'. It's kinda amazing how far a guy like Zach got

One thing they didn’t mention is he won 5 or 6 gold gloves as a pitcher fielding the position can add a lot

Youre right about pitchers, theres always something different about them. Check out someone like max scherzer next, absolute psycho, but a lengend of the game.

To be honest. Max is awesome but that wouldn't be such a fun video. The psycho is the classic dominant pitcher archetype. Think guys like Bob Gibson, Randy Johnson biting part of his tooth off during a game. There are so much psychos in history. I like the goofy ones more. Bartolo Colons career would be a lot of fun!

Pitchers are just built different for some reason.

Pitchers are indeed a bit like goalkeepers. You can't talk to some of them on the day they pitch or in between innings. But with Bauer and Greinke you're naming the two most eccentric ones in recent decades for sure. Big difference is that Bauer the type to get bullied but doesn't take shit and will tell you harsh truths without you asking. Greinke does the same but his quiet non attention seeking demeanor and social anxiety issues make teammates accept him. Strange how 2 players that are alike in a lot of ways get treated and seen so differently

As a Twins fan there were games against KC with him pitching and I wouldn't even watch because I knew it was going to be a loss for us, I had no clue he was battling anxiety and wanted to be a garbage man

I have +/- 10k baseball cards in my basement right now. I should probably look into what they're worth. Bought them when I was 10-13 with lawnmowing and paper route money. 😂

The pausing during delivery isn't unsportsmanlike or demeaning. It's meant to throw the batters timing off.

Baseball cards aren't as big as what they were. Plus, cards that were made from 1960-ish to 2023 aren't worth all that much. Prospect cards, or rookie cards for good, or great players, sure.
