I had to do a double take at 3:14 Something seemed incredibly off and anachronistic to me, until I realised the crowd weren't holding up smartphones to take video and photos, but mirrors to be able to see the procession from further back. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

My mother who is in her nineties, after watching the funeral of Elizabeth II on television said that when she was a girl she remembered her mother, my grand mother getting up earlier to travel across London to watch the funeral of King George V. She would have been one of the many standing in the crowd.

The Queen visited my state of Virginia four times. First being in 1957 for the 350th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown. She also returned fifty years later for the 400th anniversary. During that visit she went out of her way to visit and console the families and friends of the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting that took place a couple weeks before. That right there truly shows her character. An icon.

@hoodatdondar2664
@hoodatdondar2664 Жыл бұрын
@Ballon D'orson The authour, C. A. Alexander was expressing the equality of rich and poor in the eyes of God. A comparable text in Alexander's Verses for Holy Seasons (1846) makes reference to "The poor man in his straw-roofed cottage,/The rich man in his lordly hall" and states that their prayers to God are of equal importance: "He listens, and He answers all“. However, some people give it the gloss that everyone is where he is by gods will, so the verse is usually omitted to avoid that. Those same ‘plebs’ you speak of effectively deposed Edward VIII. His behaviour did not suit them. The current King has a realistic view of the monarchy: “If people don’t want it, they won’t have it”. When people say ‘God Save the King’, it really has nothing to do with the fallible ordinary fellow who holds the office. It is about the system of liberty and order that he represents as the head of a constitutional monarchy. It can go wrong, of course, but so can republics. From my republic, which has gone right, I send this greeting to Britain: God Save the King!

@@angelacooper2661 you were fortunate, so was your grandmother, for her to live to be 90. I've been tracking George Skakel's two surviving children to see if his youngest, born in 1933, will reach 90. She will if she lives until February. Both Skakel and his wife were 63 when they perished in the 1955 air tragedy over Oklahoma. Their other five children met their demise at ages 64, 76, 44, 79, and 75. If his surviving children live until January 2, 2023, that would mean his two younger children lived 20 years past the death of the most recent of his children to die. In the case of Allethea Smith Wall, Rosalynn Smith Carter's sister, Mrs. Wall will have to live until November 10, 2026, in order to reach the age of 90. Their mother was 94 when she died on April 1, 2000; their grandfather saw the age of 95 before his death in 1966.

It’s interesting, after having this happened with Queen Elizabeth II, how we can observe the similarities and all the tradition behind all these protocols.

This poor king was murdered by his doctor. He seems to have been aware of what was planned because he cursed his nurse before she administered the non lethal dose of morphine, but she would not agree to administer the kill dose. So the doctor who decided to kill him, had to do it himself. This was discovered in the 1980's when the papers associated with George V were made public . The doctor had written it all down in detail. ..Quite unbelievable isn't it. I know, I was shocked.

in 2022 There is something strange and interesting at the same time Has anyone but me noticed that Queen Elizabeth II died at the same age that she became Queen of Britain in 1952, if we start counting the years from the year Princess Diana was murdered in 1997 to 2022..
