Fly into Seattle and take one the Alaska cruise ships from there. Spend 4-5 in Washington exploring Seattle and areas east of the Cascades (including Leavenworth, one of those Christmas towns you recently showed) and then hop on a cruise ship that goes up the coast of British Columbia and Alaska. Breathtaking in the summer!

I did that for my 21st birthday (many moons ago lol) and I agree! I even drove my rental car up to Vancouver then back to Seattle for my cruise. Ketchikan and Skagway/Yukon Territory were my favorite stops! Such a beautiful area.

4 Temperate Rainforests here in Washington State. The famous Hoh , the Bogaciel , the Quinalt and the Queets all on the Westside of the Olympics. By the Quinalt Lodge is the worlds largest Sitka Tree . Visit before/after Alaska Cruise.

Daz, I'm also a geography nerd. In fact, some years ago, I stumbled across one of those videos here that asked some Californians to try pronouncing town names in Wisconsin. I thought I might be able to add a few to the list. Just this morning, I reached the 2600 mark, with 345 more in Canada. Re. point #1, the island in question is Attu (Island) = at-TWO (last Aleutian island--468 mi./753km. west of 180º) In reality, the Tongass (National Forest) = TAHNG-gƏs. I'd guess that the #2 in size would be in Washington State's Olympic N.P. Something else about Death Valley is that there's a mountain peak in the Park that's around 12,000'/3658 m, which is plenty high enough to have a snowstorm on its peak, while down below is a roaring hot summer day. This may come as a surprise: there are 5 deserts here: in addition to Great Basin, Mojave (moe-HAH-vee) and Sonoran, there's the Chihauhaun of TX, and the Kobuk of Arctic Alaska. As a result of the volcanism in HI, there are some oddly colored beaches there--green and red, in addition to the white, black and tan varieties.

I'm from KY. If your family should visit again I would totally recommend visiting the Mammoth Cave National Park and doing a full tour of the caves.

Back before you all came to Kentucky a year or two ago, you asked what were some things to do here. I think it was on the Blokes channel, I messaged you and told you about Mammoth Cave and also Natural Bridge National Park in the Appalachian part of the state. Also you said it's too cold to be in Alaska this time of year. There's been many times where the temperature has been 10-20°F here in the east in the winter then I see a national weather forecast and it's like 50°F in parts of Alaska.

hey mammoth caves! went there when i was younger, place was incredible. always remember when my family went it was a hot summer day and as we were approaching the cave you could feel a literal wall of cold air about 50 feet from the entrance, it was so eerie but fascinating.

Alaskan cruises are extremely popular over here. I hear you should take them from Seattle however so you have more time to explore and less time on the ship.

I've heard stories of some Europeans who fly to NYC and plan to spend a few days there, drive south to Florida for a day or two and then west to California...thinking each can be driven in a few hours. 🤣The scale of the States is bigger than (some) people from smaller countries can fathom.
