A lot of people were there because of the location. People that live in the state’s surrounding area (Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas) they don’t have the opportunity to see Messi and considering 70+ thousand you’ll have more of a 50/50 crowd.

This was the fourth largest crowd in MLS history. The largest crowd in MLS history was actually over 82,000 at the Rose Bowl for LAFC versus LA Galaxy in 2023. The second largest was 74,479 for Charlotte in 2022 for their home opener against the LA galaxy. The third largest was 73,019 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the MLS Cup Final 2018- Atlanta United versus Portland Timbers. The next 9 largest crowds are all Atlanta United home matches ranging from 70,000 to 72,000.

If you couldn't tell, SKC is a lower table team. They can be dangerous in attack, but have one of the worst defenses in the league. They've now allowed 9 goals in their last 3 games, all at home.

Daz, my InterMiami boys are first in the Eastern conference and 2nd overall in the MLS. I wouldn't mind winning the Supporters Shield and the MLS Cup. That's pretty much all that's left for us. Maybe another Leagues Cup. For me, It's MLS Cup or Bust.

I was at the game. The Miami crowd wasn’t there for the team, they were there to see Messi play. I was there supporting KC, but watching Messi score was on my bucket list and I’m sure it was the same way for most everyone else

The largest crowd at a neutral venue was over 82,000 at the Rose Bowl for LAFC versus LA Galaxy in 2023. This was not a record-breaking crowd and this was also not Kansas City’s home venue.

It was a record for a soccer game in KC. A lot of the pundits compare it to an MLS cup at Arrowhead years ago that only drew 26k, so this is considered evidence of how much the sport has grown in that city.

Games play at venues that they don’t typically play at, should not count as their club record.

I would not call it a small town, mid sized maybe. KC is right around the 30th largest, but as recent as the 1950's, it was like the 18th largest metro. USA has lot of mid sized cities. I wish their sports stadiums were in more urban parts of the city though.

They are NOT the same size at all. A FIFA regulation pitch is much larger than an american football field. they had to widen it and lengthen it for this match.

You are both correct and incorrect. An American football field is 120 yards long (including endzones, after all, part of the field of play). That length is satisfactory for a FIFA international match. By including the areas occupied by team benches, the pitch of a football stadium is usually wide enough. This particular stadium (opened 1973) has a tapered seating bowl at the ends, which results in a narrower field than FIFA wants. (This field was narrower than the field at SKC's usual home venue.) The stadium authority (Jackson County) and leaseholder (the Chiefs) will have to rip out seats in the corners before the World Cup in order to arrive at the required width for a World Cup match. Meanwhile, this match and the upcoming Copa America match did/will unfold on a slightly narrower pitch.

Minnesota United and real Salt Lake and Charlotte and the earthquakes and the galaxy should all be exposure time against each other and not just against Miami if they’re truly neutral.
