From the US side of the pond. It's just a new and quite brilliant thing to see our youth developing in this beautiful game. We our a century behind at least, but it's great to see the US start to do something right in this sport. Btw, while this game has never been popular in the professional sense....that is changing rapidly and....soccer has been the #1 youth sport for the last 50 years in the US.

Yeah but for America we’ve really only had 1 “gonna be the greatest ever” type and that was Freddy Adu at 14 years old as well, and it did not end well.. but think we’ve learned a ton since our academies, coaching and scouting have come a long way from 20 years ago when it happened to Freddy. Does say something man city have already agreed to buy him for 5 mill at 18 but the chances of him ever playing for the are still slim.
@jordegales6 ай бұрын
@@AdamGee8 The media should leave the young promises alone and not put that tag "the next Messi", one of those "next" was also bought by Man City in 2020, and in 6 months they sent him on loan (without playigng a single match), never returned to the team and today they are selling him, never adapted to the level. Barcelona had "the next Messi", coming from their academy, and they sold him (he played a few matches). Diablito Echeverri (River Plate) was bought two months ago by Man City, Barcelona and Chelsea wanted him too. And also the media said "the next Messi" a lot of pressure for young players from the last 8-9 years.

The Freddy Adu comparisons are way off-base, in my view. We didn't even have academies when Freddy Adu came up, and Adu was deliberately hyped by MLS itself as a marketing ploy. The state of the game in the US today is totally unrecognizable from what it was in the early 2000s. Cavan Sullivan has a very clear, progressive path to high levels of soccer/football, from the youth team to the Union senior team to one of CFG's subsidiary clubs to, potentially, Man City itself, and Cavan Sullivan has a whole team around him. He'll blow Freddy Adu out of the water, even if he never plays a minute for Man City

Man City signed him, but he can't go to England to join a club until he is 18. He might go to Europe to join a club on loan between his 16th and 18th birthday if it is determined he has "outgrown the MLS". Regardless he will officially join City when he is 18.

@ntimeproductions3 ай бұрын
Baby Football League? MSL is not even close to as old as the European Leagues and it is still 12th on the list of top leagues. US has dominated in the most wide array of sports in the world and Football is next on the list. If you know anything about the history of the sport in the US then you would know why the development came to a halt in the 1930's. Even then the US placed third in the 1930 World Cup.
@0ompaLoompa3 ай бұрын
@@ntimeproductions your national team shows zero improvements. The national team reflects the state of the league first of all. Where are your Top Talents? One every 10years? Where are your strikers who score double digit goals in European top leagues? You have a long way to go, like I said, you are still in Baby shoes. Maybe you should check out which teams weren't there at the WC 1930. No European top team was there. None. Because the World Cup was in Baby shoes
@ntimeproductions2 ай бұрын
@@0ompaLoompa LOL, it took France until 1998 to win their first World Cup. And they were in the first World Cup in 1930. Also, I told you to know your history before commenting. After the 1930 World Cup all the teams and leagues were disbanded due to the Great Depression at the time. The sport lost its popularity and no development was made in the sport for decades. It is only now that MLS has youth academies to truely develop players. And saying that leagues equals best players and national teams is simply not true. South America leagues are not even ranked higher than MLS. And I know you will say that is because their players play in Europe. That is true but they have to be developed first and be good enough in their respective countries. You can be disrespectful all you want but I have always seen the best way to shut up a trash talker is by winning. That day in both MLS and the US World Cup team is coming.

The first thing he needs to do is get the hell out of the US program and go to Europe, so he learns the proper way to play. If he is going to play for the Philadelphia Union, and the MLS, he will never progress. If he is that good, he would already be starting at the Philadelphia Union. Messi went to Barcelona at the age of 13 and played for their under-14 team and progressed through their system until he was 17 and made his competitive debut. Barca has one of the best systems in football for producing young talent (La Masia). Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, and yes even Pep!). There are others in Europe as well. It will teach him the culture and toughen him up. Stating he is the "Next Lionel Messi" is not only ridiculous it is only setting him up to fail. They said the same thing about Ansu Fati and now he is an afterthought at Brighton. They're doing the same thing with Lamine Yamal, and that is not going to help him. Yes, Daz you are correct about Freddy Adu and he tanked in Europe. He was hyped as the next "Pele" and he fizzled out once he got to Europe. This kid looks like a tool anyway. Messi was never like that.
@InternationalScoop6 ай бұрын
that’s just not true, alphonso davies was fully developed in the mls system.And if you actually read the contract you’d know that the plan was to have him play for union until he turns 16 and then loan him out to belgium for 2 years before finally bringing him to city to play for the first team
@cjboyer43556 ай бұрын
Yea I think the days of saying you HAVE to develop in Europe are dying. It’s like what they use to tell young European basketball players that they have to go to America in high school in college but in reality plenty of European NBA stars were brought up in euro clubs despite those clubs not having the talent or coaches America has.
