Next time, try placing a damp tea towel under the bowl. This will help prevent it from sliding. Also, you can put the mixture into the fridge, if the butter gets too soft, to harden it up again.

often, it is easier to use a pasty cutter if you *_roll_* it rather than push straight down. softer doughs are usually not an issue, but it can help a lot with stiffer doughs/pastries.

Baby H did so good, she probably could’ve rolled it out if she had the roller pin with loose handles! The fillings will stay if you add them horizontally at the top (widest part of dough), once rolled you can pinch and fold the ends to try and minimize any leaks. You will sort it out the more you make them.

I use crescent rolls to make chicken rolls, you make a filling of cooked shredded chicken breast, cream cheese, finely diced green onion and celery and a bit of salt and pepper to taste. Fill some crescent roll dough with it and bake them off, then make a sauce of cream of chicken soup, sour cream and just enough milk to thin it to a sauce consistency to pour over the roll on the plate.

Try using canned almond paste. Put it in the end, roll them up. Paint with afterwards risen paint with egg. Wash and put some almonds on it. Sliced almonds and then after that's all done and they're cooked you. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

May I recommend that you weigh your flour. I use 120 grams per cup. I got this weight from King Arthur’s web site. Also, use your cheese grater to cut up your cold butter. It’s so much easier.

@@Mrhandfriends Hello from Massachusetts. Thanks for replying Mrs. H. I absolutely love your channel. You have such a great family. As far as baking goes, I’ve been baking my own bread and rolls and pastry for 10 years now. The cheese grater is superb. Hold it over your bowl of flour and grate a quarter of your butter. Mix it into your flower with a fork and then repeat until you’ve grated it all. I’ve been using this technique for 4 years and it’s so much easier than the pastry cutter. BTW, Elana in the chef’s outfit is cuteness overload. I’ve enjoyed watching your cooking prowess develop over the last few years. You’re really very good. Cheers!

Cresent rolls are great for chicken salad sandwiches or tuna salad sandwiches . . and yes, you can use them with sausage gravy over them ...I like them also just as they are as long as they are a bit buttery with my coffee for breakfast! Or a bit of honey! Cresent rolls are delicious! They are good for a breakfast sandwich ie: egg, cheese and bacon . . . suggestion: rub flour on the rolling pin...helps a bit....

😊All I can do is smile while Elana is in the kitchen doing her thing. Cresent are very versatile but it is a long day in the kitchen because you need to refrigerate in between each lamination folding. You also use less flour when rolling the dough......flour the rolling pin or put parchment paper 📜 on top of the do so you do not need flour. You did a great job your first time out. The pig in a blanket is a favorite kids snack. A hot dog or sausage roll is used. Look it up on line. They are even served in a miniature version as appetizers for parties. 👏Brava Mrs H.

I make Apple Dumplings out of cresant rolls: Ingredients 2 (8 ounce) cans crescent rolls 2 sticks butter 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1 teaspoons vanilla 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 1/2 cup 7 Up (or other lemon soda) 2 apples (Golden Delicious or Granny Smith) Cook Mode Prevent your screen from going dark Instructions Butter a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Preheat the oven at 350 F. Peel and core apples, than cut each apple into 8 slices Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll and place in a buttered dish. Melt butter, stir in sugar, vanilla and cinnamon, and when it’s thickened, remove from heat and pour over the dumplings. Pour the soda in the middle and along the edges of a pan(not over the rolls) Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until they become golden brown. Serve warm.

Just a tip. . . when you are "booking" the dough (roll outand fold in thirds, etc.) It helps to form the layers if you wrap it and put it back in the refrigerator for ten minutes or so. Stretches out the time it takes to chill it each time, but makes a flakier end product! Still--doing a great job, and Elana is really blossoming right in front of out eyes--BLY

A little tip for the butter is to freeze it and then grate it using the large grate on a box grater. Makes it easier to work the butter into the flour. And Elana's been absorbing everything that you've been doing for your content like a sponge. She hears you talking and see's you doing and that's all they need to learn. She's picked up Mr. H's fist boom. I wouldn't be surprised if she could count a bit from all the times you and Mr. H rated your cooking. I'd choose a different cheese. While good, when cheddar melts, it gets a little oily.

A crescent roll seems the same as a croissant to me.

Crescent roll is more "bready" on the inside, whereas a croissant has layers. I hope that helps.

@@frances4309 I've had both many times. I said "to me".

What my pops always did when using the rolling pin was to pour some flower on his hand and then run that up and down the rolling pin to coat it. Hotdogs are great to roll up in those cresent rolls.

Butter tip for pastries. Freeze your butter and use a grater to grate the buter into the dry mix.

With leftover cooked plain crescent rolls I make sandwiches....roast beef and Swiss sliders with pepperochino/tomatoes/ lettuce, or pulled pork in bbque sauce, or ham and cheddar melt or they are excellent for an egg/sausage and cheese crescent breakfast.
