Yes, I noted Andrew's comment about the excessive mayo on the one sandwich. I agree, most North Americans put far too much mayo, and other sauces, on their food. I watch quite a number of food related videos and just cringe at the amount of "sauces" everyone uses. When I order a sandwich I always ask for the sauce, or mayo, on the side. I prefer to taste my actual food, not just sauce! Happy New Year Nicola and Andrew!

Yep mayo is absolutely standard on BLTs. And an actual fresh summer tomato-which you may have never had-makes a huge difference too. And, unfortunately, that really expensive one has not much resemblance to an actual BLT. Actually in the summer, (in Nashville Tennessee anyway😂) people make tomato sandwiches w no bacon. W mayo-preferably Duke’s. Enjoy!

a homemade BLT is always the best and if you can try to get an heirloom tomato those are amazing tip: we don't grill it or cook the bread (we just make toast in a toaster and THAT IS IT) lol I've seen so many brits cook it instead of using a toaster and I'm like oh God no, please! lol oh and also (toasting the bread is the very last step we do before assembling it together as a complete BLT sandwich) so make sure your bacon is cooked how you want it then make sure the mayo is out and ready and the tomato is all sliced up and the lettuce is torn off and your ready to go and as soon as the toast pops up and is toasted then put it on a plate add your mayo to (both) pieces of toast then add your bacon tomato lettuce and top it with the other piece of mayoed toast and cut it in half and eat and boom your done easiest is better (Do not try to be fancy with it simple is best) but you can add as much bacon lettuce and tomato and mayo as you want but aside from the toast that's all you add however much you want of the mayo Bacon Lettuce Tomato but don't add any other extra ingredients (oh and NO BUTTER) lol just an FYI I know brits love their butter inside a sandwich lol ps: I loved this video thanks for making it guys hugs!

BLTs are a humble and easy sandwich, so I’m not surprised that you went for the first one. There’s no place for it to go, when the cheapest version is going to be marginally different from any other. As long as the tomato and lettuce are fresh, the bread is toasty and the bacon is well-cooked, you’re going to have a good sandwich.

Try a BLT made with thick cut bacon, lettuce, and home grown Beefmaster or Beefsteak tomato thick cut with Mayonnaise based on Olive Oil on Texas Toast. Also try thick cut bacon with pepper on the edge. Ends up being a seasonal thing in the USA if you can find a restaurant that'll do this with the tomatoes, otherwise you have to do it yourself because you don't find Beefmaster or Beefsteak tomatoes varieties in the grocery store, just in your own backyard garden.

Mayo is pretty typical for a BLT. In the Midwest, it’s very common to substitute mayo with Miracle Whip. I’m not big on either. My pro move is to leave out the mayo in favor of an acid-forward Italian dressing or salsa verde. Acid cuts through the fatty bacon and makes the blt more exciting.

Great video as always! If I may offer a suggestion for the future: When the weather warms up in the northeast USA, I strong recommend doing a tour of the diners in New Jersey. New Jersey has more diners than anywhere in the USA. A quick Google search, Yelp, etc. reviews should steer you to the hot spots. While the food is not inexpensive, the portions tend to be large and are easily enough for two in many cases. Overall, it is a very good representation of American food, albeit sometimes on steroids. New Jersey is a unique area in that a portion of it will be more NewYork like with jaw-dropping Italian food, etc., but just down the proverbial roads are more dining/diner adventures. "Eater" on YT has a good video to get you started with one of my faves in Newark NJ, "Tops."

That sounds delicious! Fried green tomatoes add such a unique twist to a classic BLT. We'll have to try that in the future

Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato are the main ingredients but Mayo is absolutely the condiment for the bread. 😂

You're absolutely right. Mayo is a BLT classic. We might have gotten a little carried away with the lobster in this one!
@charliedavis88943 күн бұрын
The toast and bacon on a standard BLT is so crunchy it'll hurt the roof of your mouth. Mayo is required. Most BLTs in a restaurant come with a side of your choice, french fries, potato chips, small salad, cup of soup, cottage cheese and the like. Many of us make ours at home so we can make them just the way we like. That 3rd sandwich isn't a BLT, its not even a good fake. Its expensive because of the lobster and the waterfront location. You'd have been better off ordering a lobster roll there.

You make some excellent points about the classic BLT! It's all about that perfect crunch and the toppings we love. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Toasted sourdough, crispy bacon, lettuce and tomato, with a few slices of avocado. Mayo is traditional, but I hate it, so not on my BLT.

You did another great video. The BLT is one of my favorite sandwiches. I always put mayo on my BLT. Toasted bread and crispy bacon are also a plus. We usually eat them in the summer, at my home, but you can have them year round.

The Lobster BLT was definitely a unique twist on the classic! It's always fun to try something new, but you can't beat a good old diner .

Before it even starts . . . Stick with the cheapest. Well, maybe not the very lowest priced, but way down in price. I use Miracle Whip as the dressing & NO, nothing in excess. Potato chips I would say, are mandatory. Lobster?? Some do insist on avacado or onion on their BLT. So, I guess. You guys need some promoting. Still only 25K? I will mention you. So expect a huge influx of 2 or 3 subscribers next week.

That last sandwich, while delicious, is not a BLT. It's a lobster salad sandwich with bacon. The lettuce and tomato usually come on salad sandwiches. If this sandwich is more expensive than the two it's insane. I agree, I like the first one also. Yes, mayonnaise is standard for a BLT. Now if the first place toasted their bread more, added more BL&T to give that sandwich some girth to hold on to you'd have a killer sandwich. Out of curiosity, where are you buying these BLTs these prices are crazy

I spent most of my life thinking I didn't like tomatoes. I was an adult before I discovered that tomatoes are great - in season! They are absolutely wonderful during that brief period in August when they come straight off the vine. They do benefit from being salted before use, too. (I like my BLT with a fried egg - a BELT.)
@thebritstryКүн бұрын
That’s a great tip! We’ll have to try salting the tomatoes next time!

Come August in New Jersey when the Beefsteak Tomatoes are ripening the BLT's are fantastic. As a matter of fact lots of folks skip the bacon and lettuce and just do Tomato with bread and mayo.
