Great review!! Both KFC and Popeye's compliment each other because you can get tired of one or the other rather quickly and need a refreshing change. One major difference that always gives KFC the edge for me is, that after the chicken goes cold, whether or not you heat the chicken back up, the Popeye's always tastes like shite. I think red beans and rice is more of a Louisiana dish! As a Texan I like red beans and rice. So I think that is where the least favorite comes in. Popeyes Cajun gravy it's kind of like the start of gumbo! You start the dish with Trinity (onions, bell peppers, celery) and of course some Cajun seasoning! KFC's has a original version, and a extra crispy version of chicken! So to compare KFC's and Popeyes together better you would need to get the crispy chicken. And a little secret on both KFC's and Popeyes, if you go to a high volume location! The chicken especially the biscuits will be better! And you always, use your biscuits to dip in the mashed potatoes and gravy!

When I've tried the rice and beans at the Popeyes near me, the beans are always on top with the rice on the bottom, so maybe that makes a difference? I'm so old I remember when "Kentucky Fried Chicken" was good.

Popeyes is elite status and I love the red beans and rice 😂 The honey is usually for the bisket and I recommend the blackened ranch for the tenders next time.

You can’t pay me to eat at KFC. I work there and instead of cleaning the floor they let you slide around on greasy oil floors. Now the biscuit the first time I watched, the manager made the biscuit. She dropped the tube of fake butter on the floor.😳 She proceeded to pick up the tube that was fully open when she dropped it and just picked it up off the greasy floor and dropped it in to the batter to make the biscuits. I will say this the manager did look around to see if they were any customers that had seen that she dropped the tube off fake butter on the floor before she picked it up and put it in to the flour mixture. 🤯 Now I understand these practices can be at any fast food establishment, or restaurant and I’m sure that happens quite often because people have no scruples and don’t care about the customers well-being or Giving them quality product. I know this isn’t at all places. Some just care about the bottom line. Please keep in mind. This was well over 30 years ago. Thank you

That manager should have been reported and fired immediately.

ive seen plenty of that, working fast food. sometimes its just too busy for people to give a damn about changing gloves to avoid cross contamination. or dropping something like the filet-o-fish bun on the ground because it took a minute to steam and you have to make 12 more along with 50 other things. so you dont care enough to be behind another minute for a bun

Popeyes rice and beans are suppose to have a Cajun smoked flavor. Maybe their attempt threw you off.
@thebritstryАй бұрын
That might be the case! We definitely have to try it again to see if this was just a strange batch. Thanks for the info!

@@thebritstry They also have a dish called 'dirty rice' you could try. Its better than the rice and beans.

I agree. Popeyes all the way!

I know people who like KFC mashed potatoes and gravy so much, they would make a meal out of it for lunch. Nothing else.

The strange spice in the red beans and rice is liquid smoke extract I believe

I agree. I hope you retry the rice and beans. I'm sure it was just something off.

Biscuits are best with butter and dipped in gravy and mashed potatoes ;) Eating them plain is just too dry

I couldn't agree more! Butter and gravy really take biscuits to the next level. Thanks for watching
