Brittney Griner Released by Russia in Prisoner Exchange

President Biden announced WNBA star Brittney Griner was released from a Russian prison. Back in February, Griner was arrested on drug charges at a Russian airport after she packed cannabis oil in her luggage. Griner was freed in a prisoner exchange for Viktor Bout, the notorious Russian arms dealer known as the "Merchant of Death." Bout was serving a 25-year sentence in the U.S. The prisoner swap took place at Abu Dhabi airport in the United Arab Emirates.

The marine is in custody on suspicion of ESPIONAGE he’s going to be much harder to bargain for. If the US had to sacrifice an arms dealer to get back a basketball player, the Russian government is going to ask for something very large and very serious in exchange for a US Marine accused of being a spy.
