As a Marine Veteran, his music got so many of us through some very difficult days and times. I saw him with the USO, and 5 times in concert back here at home. He was such a great man and Patriot. He will be so greatly missed by his fans. Hard to believe that I'll never get to attend another one of his concerts. May he Rest In Peace.

Army vet here and I couldn't agree more and I love how this video shows both places i deployed to Bosnia in 2004 Iraq in 2008 and I definitely agree his music helped all of us through those hard days the 1st Sgt I served with in Bosnia was killed 5 July 2005 in Afghanistan and Toby's song American Soldier was played at his viewing and I ain't afraid to admit I cried like a baby because that man helped me out in so many ways and to this day every time I hear American Soldier or Red White and Blue (Angry American) they bring tears to my eyes

I wish I had been in your shoes. I would have loved to know him as a person. I grew up on country music, and Toby was one of my favorite artists. I joined the Army 2 years out of high school and they played Courtesy Of The Red White And Blue during my graduation from basic. I had never in my life felt more awesome than at that moment, marching onto the field with smoke bombs going off. I felt like a hero.

Glad you recommended that to Britt. It's a real "eye-wetter" and it's evident that both he and his wife knew his days were numbered. That performance was 4 months and 6 days before he finally succumbed. He looked shorter, thinner and frailer than when singing "Should've Been a Cowboy," but his voice was still perfect.

Hi Britt. Toby was a great guy and a great entertainer. I am going to give you a few answers to some questions you sort of asked and some you didn't ask lol. Toby did not serve, but his Dad did. In fact his Dad lost an eye during his service. Toby never stopped traveling and performing for the troops. All over the world. He didn't really get his break in the music biz until well into his 30s I believe. He was playing in bars etc and working hard at other things to support his family. He was indeed a big guy. He played high school and then semi pro football. He also worked in the oil fields. He actually went to college at (I believe) Villanova. Not sure for how long. Oh and the red solo cups were a staple at Toby's shows. He had a huge hit song called red solo cup. An ultimate party song for BBQs, frat parties and tailgating. If you decide to check it out do yourself a favor and watch the actual video. It's a riot. Oh and a couple quick references from the song we just watched that might have gone over your head because they were before your time. There was a TV western that was on the air for many years called Gunsmoke. 2 of the main characters were the Marshall Matt Dillon and the saloon operator Miss Kitty. He also mentioned Gene and Roy. They were both movie and TV singing cowboys. R.I.P. Toby Keith

Should Have Been a Cowboy, his first hit, was the most played Country song in the 90s. Listen to Does That Blue Moon Every Shine on You. He did 15 tours in combat zones performing over 200 shows for the troops. His Dad was in the military & modeled patriotism for Toby.

So sad to hear of the passing of Toby Keith. Fun Fact. In March 1993 Mercury Nashville Had three budding stars that they set upon the public with their New Artist Triple Play Tour featuring live performances by John Brannen, Toby Keith & the unheard of Shania Twain. Toby Keith came out the favourite of that tour. RIP Toby :( Thanks for you fun music clips.

I like Toby. I got to see him in concert one time with Brooks & Dunn and Keith Urban was there and I bought 10 tickets for all my friends and it was a good concert back when it was back when just after it started, he will be missed. He was a good man, good human being him having cancer struck home because I had cancer back in 2015 I get it thank you Toby for all your good music and thank you Britt for your reaction. Love you.

Didn't know what this song was referring to when I first heard it. but my hubby now is a bit older than me so I've been watching Gun Smoke episodes and westerns for 14 yrs now.. lol.. I always loved the song.. but I get it now... This man was just amazing and it's hard to believe he's gone. Heartbreaking. So many great hits and so much patriotism... Respect, love and condolences to his family.

I was shocked yesterday when I found out that one of my favorite Country Artist passed away, I'm so glad I got to see him 3 times. Once with Mongomery Gentry when they played for 4 hours of amazing music. He will be missed! Just goes to show you can be rich, but without the health the money doesn't matter, Toby was listed as the 5th richest Country Artist,,

A hell of a man. He worked the oilfields and played semi pro football before becoming famous for this song. Quite patriotic, he traveled the world to entertain the military any and every time they asked. He signed Taylor Swift to his record label when she was 15. Big Machine Records. Yep, a hell of a man, i miss him already.
