Hi Britt, I know you like stories, Toby said he was inspired to write this song, when he was playing a celebrity golf tournament and he was paired with Clint Eastwood, Clint was in his late 80s, Toby asked him how he kept producing movies and acting at his age. Clint said he gets up every morning and just does what he always does and he doesn't let the old man in.

To add, Toby wrote this for Clint’s birthday, Clint liked it so much he used it in the movie The Mule

Yes, but this evening, Tobi was thinking about himself while he sang the song and so did the whole audience, so it's a bit annoying that everyone focuses on the fact that he wrote the song for 90-year-old Clint, who can die at any time due to age. But here Toby wasn't thinking about Clint but about himself and his tired worn out body because of the cancer. So let him own the song as a so-called goodbye song.

@roykilgour979011 ай бұрын
@@newsooner1155 He chose this song to tell the audience something on his heart. Do you think he chose to praise Clint with his last appearance. Come on, try and use your head a little. That song fits any man near death. That night the song was about Toby himself so Clint wasn't relevant that night. Clint is still alive at 93 years old. Toby has died aged 62. It wasn't what Toby had in mind when he wrote that song. So that song ended up being about Toby himself. So that fact about Clint became the fight of Toby's own life which he lost. So the least you can do is take the last night Toby sang for what it was. Namely Toby's night.

Toby's bus would pass through a little town in Arkansas on occasion and stop at the tiny burger/shake joint on the side of the road. I think the reason we were all shocked at his passing, is that he performed 3 shows in Las Vegas in December. The man never quit until God decided it was time. My heart is broken. And yes, that was his wife. Another beautiful song by Toby is called 'Cryin' for me'. He wrote it as a tribute to his friend Wayman Tisdale, who also passed from Cancer. Toby said he was planning on singing something fun and upbeat, but the showrunner (I forget his name and exact job title) really wanted him to do this song. Blake Shelton played one of Toby's upbeat songs earlier, so that's part of why Toby wanted to do an upbeat song. But this song hit number 1 on iTunes after this performance. He wrote this song years ago after asking Clint Eastwood how he was able to keep grinding at his age, and Clint replied, "Don't let the old man in". Toby sent it to Clint and thanked him for inspiring the song, and Clint said in the movie he was working on, he is often referred to as the "old man". And Clint put the song in that movie. "The Mule" is the movie.

Awesome!! So glad you did this song. What gets me about this song is this. I am very similar to Toby Keith in that I believe our attitude towards life is very similar. Live life, be happy, find humor in all things.. but people need to know that most of us who have this attitude towards life, are rooted in reality. We know pain, we know heartache, we know reality but we CHOOSE to not let that keep us down or guide our lives and to me, this is Toby Keith putting that point across. Even though his body is weathered and worn, he's not going to let the old grumpy grouchy man in.. keep living until God says it's time to go.

@kristinkeiner654711 ай бұрын
No, he did not. Swift had been noticed by several people in the industry before initially being the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Tree publishing house. Swift left then BMG-owned RCA Records and was then signed by Scott Borchetta to Big Machine Records. While Big Machine Records did become a joint venture between Borchetta and Toby Keith, Keith had absolutely no part in signing Swift to that record label.

He most certainly helped her it cannot be denied. Her deal with Sony was irrelevant, her first record label and first record was with BMR which Toby funded to get it going. Scott wanted to sign her but Toby was definitely a reason why she signed because she looked up to him and he helped create the label. It was never really a joint venture because Toby had his own label but being a smart businessman he he got 2.5% royalties off of her. She has praised him multiple times up until 2016 when politics got in the way and now she is a liberal pos and wont say anything about him because of politics thats so shitty@@kristinkeiner6547
