This man’s story is incredible. He said in an interview that he went his whole life without ever experiencing Love. I felt this man’s pain.

Charles Bradley was one of the kindest men I have ever met. We considered each other friends, I met him in about 2006. Me and my friend, Mike Fisher, putting on a Veterans festival in Waterbury, Connecticut, and Mike had found Charles through a friend to headliner event. At that time he didn’t really have a solo career. He was touring as black velvet the worlds best James Brown impersonator. But he did have his songs that he had wrote, his biggest one at the time was this world is going up in flames still one of my favorite of his, but he had some other songs as well one he actually wrote about his brother going away to war. This was very meaningful to him, so he played our veterans festival for free because we were donating 100% of the proceeds to the Goldstar mothers foundation. He said I would love to do this concert for you for free. I don’t need any money. Just feed me well. Lol, I got to spend a week with him driving around hanging out with my family eating at my home. He did this for us for two years straight, I never lost contact with him. I was devastated about four or five years later when I heard he passed of cancer. But he did have a glimpse of notoriety when his first ever album, got him in Rolling Stone magazine as one of the best, up-and-coming artist, at 68 years old. they made a documentary about him on Netflix called soul of America. He would call me about four times a year just to talk, for levity. He wasn’t one for fame, he was a genuine soul. RIP, Charles Bradley.

They wrote this song about the drummer Bill Ward going through a divorce.

OMG, you did Mr. Bradley singing Changes... SOUL indeed. if I could LIKE it a million times, I would. I think you'd groove to his funky cool soul powerhouse "Ain't It a Sin"...

LOVE this cover since I first heard it. The pain and emotion - I’ve felt that so I understand. It’s somewhat freeing for him to sing it and release it all

This will always bring me to tears. I’m a cry baby, and an empath, but I can keep it together for the most part. Not with this one. If I’m watching this in public, I’m crying. A lot. What an amazing and emotional singer. Truly beautiful.

The Black Sabbath original is the best. I have loved it since the 70s. You now got to hear Ozzie do it.

I'm an 80s kid, but I discovered Black Sabbath in about 1986 when Iwas 14. My parents HATED all that "Satanic heavy metal stuff" (which included, in their minds, bands like Bon Jovi). I used to use music for background while I did my homework. One day my Mom walked by while "Changes" was playing, and she stopped to listen, and said, "Oh, now THIS one's pretty, who is this?" And I got to do the whole "slow grin" thing as I answered, "Black Sabbath...." So she asked if they had more "pretty music". End result: I ended up making her a custom mix tape of Black Sabbath, but it was ONLY "Changes" and "Laguna Sunrise" on repeat 🤣

Charles came to fame late in life and left us way too soon. In his early career, he was a sort of James Brown imitator.

Pretty sure he backed James Brown at some point. I learned about him from the Luke Cage marvel series.

-I'm so glad you picked this version. It's the best and most soulful one. I've heard his album version and his live concert with full instrumentation and it takes away from the song... Ruins it if you ask me.... -The original Black Sabbath version was mainly inspired by drummer Bill Ward's ongoing breakup with his wife
