Kenny was huge back in the day. Two of his songs were made into tv movies. The Gambler and Coward of the County. The Gambler had 5 movies in all. Trust me, his looks and voice had every woman swooning. He is known for his beautiful love songs. React to LADY and you will fall in love. What a trip man. I bought this single in high school. And also another one of his, Coward of the County. Which is a fantastic song. But this is a masterful song it's a complete allegory for life, and it's got foreshadowing and just so much double entendre and yet like you say, the way he delivers it and the backing vocals especially that deep bass and it just works so well.
