Two others you will laugh with are Ahab The Arab and Gitarzan. Ray Stevens is famous for his comedic songs: The Streak, Sitting Up With The Dead, It's Me Again Margaret, I'm My Own Grandpa, the list goes on, but the one that will really surprise you is not a comedy. It's a serious tune called Everything Is Beautiful and it has a great message

Ray Stevens is well known for his comedy music. He also did some writing and performing for other artists in other genres, as well as his grammy winning song from 1970, Everything is Beutiful. He is strong in his faith and has several gospel hits to his name as well. He wrote and performed the theme to the original Cannonball Run movie and the sequel. He is in short, a legend. He is also considered a "clean" comic. I would love to see you react to more.

Back in the day, my grandpa, God rest his soul, taught me how to feed a squirrel a pecan. So i did what he taught me, i sat on the front porch and held a pecan with my fingers and then the squirrel ran up to me and stood there eating the pecan right on my lap. When he was done eating the pecan, he got off and went back up the tree. Its one of those precious memories ill treasure forever.

Without sin and being perfect are two different things. According to Hebrews, Jesus was made perfect through suffering. He even questioned God on the cross. But none of this is the point of that sign, and you know that. You just want to troll. The point of the sign is, we accept that all people are sinners, and all sinners are welcome. So don't come in thinking you're better than others in the congregation and looking down your nose. Practice humility, and know that you'll be accepted and welcomed. And with that, I'm done with your meaningless baiting.
@triden1172
@triden1172 3 ай бұрын
@@johncentamore1052 I am not trolling, this is legitimate doctrine. We know from the book of Job that it is not a sin to question God, so long as you continue to obey him. it is never a sin to ask questions! Also, you just admitted through that scripture that Jesus was perfect. his sacrifice was the finishing stroke, the capstone if you will, that completed his utterly perfect life. Without sin = perfect. It's not that hard to understand. If Jesus didn't live a perfect life, we would all be fucked. the only reason we can be redeemed through him is because he lived a perfect life and achieved the kingdom of heaven through his own merit. it is by becoming joint inheritors with jesus that we can even enter into the kingdom of heaven in the first place. If he Isn't perfect, than he cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven, for no unclean thing can enter into God's presence. We are cleansed by the blood of Christ to become joint inheritors with him. Jesus had nothing to cleanse him, because he DOES the cleansing. If Jesus had sinned, than he wouldn't have been perfect, he would NOT have been able to enter the kingdom of heaven, and all of us would be up a creek without a paddle, the entire plan of salvation would be frustrated, and there would be no hope for salvation. By accepting Jesus as our lord and master, we are acknowledging Jesus as the gold standard of how to live, the perfect example for us to follow and learn from. If he wasn't perfect, Than why would we follow him? In Matthew 5: 48, Jesus says, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect." In John 10: 30, Jesus says, "I and the Father are one" If Jesus is one with The Father, than he is perfect, because the father is perfect. Jesus is without sin. That's the whole point of his sacrifice. That is why we follow him. so that we can be cleansed of our sins at the last day, and enter the kingdom of heaven, perfected in him at last. If you truly think that Jesus wasn't perfect, then why are you even following him? Why are you even calling yourself a Christian? Why worship an imperfect man? One cannot wash themselves clean in muddy water. They will only become filthier. Jesus IS perfect. That's the whole point of the entire religion.

Back before the internet or even modern TV boys would find things to do to stay amused. Catching frogs, snakes, chipmunks, and squirrels were on the list and quite a few were boxed during summer days. Usually they only stayed boxed for a couple hours since they were pretty good at getting loose. Parents were pretty good at intercepting the box of critters before they got into the house so they didn't have a reenactment of the Mississippi Squirrel.

He has a number of comedy songs but this is one of my favorites. Thank you for reacting to it. Ray did have one serious, non-comedy, hit called "Everything is Beautiful". It actually reached number one on the Hot 100 in 1970.

I had pet flying squirrels. I grew up in the early 60's near the swamps to the ENE of New Orleans. About an hour and a half from Pascagoula. Paw-paw would set traps to catch them for me. I'd tie a slipknot around the leg and the other end to the loop on my jeans and they spent the next day or so in my pocket until they eventually got away. I did take one to school. It didn't cause a ruckus. Teacher just made me turn it loose on the playground. But she sent a letter home. Maw-maw would make you go pick your own switch off the catawba tree. If she had to go pick a better switch you got two whipping's. 🤣😂🤣

My mom drug me and my brother to church in the late 70s. We didn't have much money, so I usually wore handed down dresses that were a few years out of fashion. Even though the style of the time was maxi dresses, I was still wearing minis, and the little old ladies had a lot to say about it. Being a bit more honest than most people liked, I told them if they studied their Bible as much as they studied my clothes, they would've already been raptured. They didn't tell me anything else about my skirts after that. This song was a blast!! There were quite a few funny songs back then ...

Rural Appalachian and southern Americans will make a pet out of anything. My grandmother had a pet groundhog , and my grandfather tamed and trained wild animals, birds , chipmunks, squirrels and deer to come to him or to knock on the window for a treat and to be pet , they are the reason why I was always toting home some kind of critter. I took my raccoon to school on a couple of occasions, which was interesting to say the least. She even made it into my high-school yearbook.

Ray has just as many, if not more serious songs... Hundreds of cover songs... Even a respectable version of Roy Orbison's "Crying"...

When I was growing up, my church (the First Baptist) needed a squirrel revival. It could have used a few more "Amens!" and Hallelujahs!"

Way back in the 70's, a cat had squirrel, and my sister was trying to make the cat let it go. Well, the squirrel bit my sister. My dad chased the cat to retrieve the squirrel. It had to be tested for rabies. The test took time, so my sister had to get a rabies shot. This injection is given in the abdomen, and is extremely painful. The squirrel was negative, so luckily she only had to get one. I will never forget the fact that both my parents to help her get from the car into the house. Don't be messin' with any squirrels!

Ray Stevens, being a Christian man himself, found a clever and subtle way to lampoon the hypocrisies commonly found in Churches. It's a funny song with a serious underlying message.

You're the first reactor I've seen who figured out the message before the song actually got there! I love how it is utter chaos shenanigans that could be just a funny story, and then he brings it back around to how the Lord works in mysterious ways, so that it is actually sincerely moving for just a moment there at the end before it goes back into the silly chorus.

he wrote comedy music about the stuff that was going on in the day. The Streak is about the people streaking at events, It's me again Margaret was about all the people making obscene phone calls etc

A great reaction. I would agree that in many of Ray Stevens songs there is a bit of social commentary. He has had several hits and while most have a comic story in them, they are really good musically. Much like Roy Clark, and Weird Al. I think people overlook the musical talent these performers had. For a fun song with no real message that I can find, but lots of laughs about unintended consequences. Check out "The Brick Layer's Song". A couple of others that are worthwhile and I did not see mentioned. "The Haircut Song", "Would Jesus Wear a Rolex?" and "Osama Yo Mama"
