Thank you for watching this one! At age 16 Scotty was the youngest contestant to win American Idol in 2011. He competed against Jimmie Allen and later they would tour together. He is just the nicest guy, very humble. Also I think he meant his Grandpa was age 86 when the Angels came.

Scotty won American Idol when he was 16. He co-wrote this song with his producer and another songwriter and it became his first No. 1 hit. And, yeah, the girl in the photo became his wife. They met in kindergarten. Scotty is the real deal. This song and "Damn Strait," his love-and-maybe-hate affair with George Strait are two of his best songs.

I spend 8 days at my Grandma's bedside until her last breath. She said my Dad and Grandpa came for her. She went with them to heaven on April 27, 2023. She was 97 1/2 so I couldn't possibly ask for more time as she was so tired. Blessed ❤

great reaction! Scotty is one of the good guys from the small town of Garner N.C. which is about 5 min from where i live. He has not let his fame go to his head. He even married his childhood sweetheart. My son went to the same school way before Scotty went there. Love it when he sings in that deep bass voice of his even though you don't hear it much here. Beautiful song by a good Christian man.

I I'm about to be 43, met my wife in high school, my boys be 18 and 21 this year, I've lost both my parents over the last 12 years, lost my Grandmother a few months ago, all the great memories are in the past. I listen to this song from time to time and each time I wish I had five more minutes more and more. Songs and lyrics defiantly hit harder with each passing day. Hold onto the good times and the great memories because at the end of the day it's all we have. Great reaction.

Scotty has got that growl. There are a lot of country songs along this theme, Tim McGraw has at least two "Live Like You were Dying" (which is just stellar, amazing really), and "I called Momma".

Scotty has a wholesomeness about him that shines through for all to see. I went to an Atlanta baseball game which he did a mini concert right afterwards, which was awesome performance. The next day my family and I went to six flags and was standing in long line at the Johnny Rockets restaurant. Started conversation with gentleman in front of me. Told him I was on short vacation mainly for my family to see the Scotty McCreery concert at the end of the Braves game. He said that he came specially for the same reason. Turn out that he was Scotty's pastor from a Baptist church in Garner NC. He told me what a good Christian boy Scotty was and how proud he was of him to be so successful but did not compromise his Christian beliefs to do so. Scotty is a real genuine Christian with a huge talent.

My great grandmother had dementia and at the end, she couldn't even sit up or talk or anything. One day, my great aunt looked back at her room and my great grandmother was sitting up in the bed smiling and waving. My Aunt Rosie said, "Momma, lay down what are you doing?" She had gotten to the point where she couldn't even talk at all. She looked at my great aunt and smiled and said she was waving at Houston (my grandfather/ her son who had died when he was in his 50s) and Virgil (my great grandfather). They're coming to get me" She died the next day. It was precious. I'm glad they came to get her. ❤❤❤

This song made me think about when my mom passed away. She was in the hospital and had been unresponsive for quite a few days. In her room was me and my sisters, my nieces and some cousins and some of my aunts. It was all women in there, my dad just couldn't handle it. Anyway, we sang her hymns quite a lot. As we were leaving her room after she passed, one of the nurses said we could here you singing to her. We apologized that we may have been too loud. She said, "oh no. It was beautiful. You sang her into heaven". I'll never forgot that.

Sorry that the “Thumbs-up, Like” box on my phone only allows one entry. Beautiful reaction, perfect song, Thumbs-up X 10. My Dad passed at age 52 from cancer. We were all gathered around as he left us. About 10 minutes before, in his pain, he asked who the man was standing in the corner. There was only family there, and no one was in the corner, ….. that any of us could see.

It is Southern Slang and Trang. I started driving a semi at the age of 50. Because I had always been a gram had on the family farm. And was widowed at age 50. And as a female I didn’t have a résumé. So I went to truck driving school and in 10 weeks I was behind the wheel of a truck. Had to sale the land I had always lived on, and all only place my son had lived on. And the company I drove for kept us as far from home as the could, cause we stayed out 3/4 weeks at a time. So coming gown to home in Mississippi, the first place I stop in in Virginia , said hi yal ! I said thank God I’m nearly home I heard somebody say yal. It was beautiful!! I never realized how much you miss you on language. No body could understand me any more than I could them. The trucks would keep me talking just to hear, what they called that sexy Southern talk. I had never knew that. Just talked like always. Love your reactions. Ms Britt

FYI, Scotty didn't forsake his college education after winning American idol. He came back to his Garner, N C hometown and graduated from N C State University with a bachelor's degree in communications. He and Gabi have a son, born in Oct. 2022. He has also participated in many charitable events. In 2017 he received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest civilian award given by the State of North Car0olina. And lastly, the movie Five More Minutes (a woman's Christmas wish about her grandfather) is based on Scotty's song.

Britt! I don't know if this is your cup of tea, but a fairly recent Hallmark movie, called "Five More Minutes" dealt with a woman who wanted five more minutes with her grandfather. She found a diary of her grandfather and was able to trace his life to an extent. Some things happened in the movie that filled in the blanks and also helped the woman with her life. She was helped by her grandfather in a way I'm not going to say, in case you decide you want to see the movie. I was crying at the end, but I'm a crybaby, so you may not react the same. What moved me to tears was the playing of virtually the entire song you heard in this reaction, as it related to the characters in the movie. Thanks for doing this very moving song. Love you and your channel. :)

"Five More Minutes" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music singer Scotty McCreery. It was released in May 2017 as the first single from his fourth studio album, Seasons Change (2018). McCreery wrote the song with Monty Criswell and Frank Rogers, who also produced it. The song was inspired by the death of McCreery's grandfather and how you want to spend more time with a loved one.

This really is a beautiful song. My five more minutes growing up always involved reading a book. I always wanted that five more minutes to finish the chapter or the book. I wanted more than five more minutes with my Daddy when he was dying. On a lighter note, I do know I didn't want five more minutes of natural childbirth, even though it was a momentous occasion. 😆 Blessings!

I’m turning 53 years this month. I worked doubles almost every day and a lot of weekends to keep a roof over our heads and dinner on the table. When I was younger I would have said to a friend in the Marine Corps and law enforcement he’s getting soft. Now sometimes I wish I was more worried about my wife and boys.
