This song is one of those flukes in music history. This was the only hit Sheriff ever had, and it didn't become a hit until almost 2 years after Sheriff called it quits. You should listen to the studio version of this song; the ending is unbelievable.

Um actually they were together from 1979-1985 they where a Canadian Band, had a few hits. This song was re-released in the US in 1989 and hit #1 in the US. In 1983 it only hit #60 in the US.

This song ended up going to #1 many years after its initial release, and at one point, held the Guinness book of world records, for longest note held. If you would've listened to the album version, then you would've heard this bit of musical history for yourself. I could be wrong, but I also thought it held the Guinness book of records, for the longest time it took a song to reach #1.

Two members of this group [Arnold Lanni, Wolf Hassel] went on to form the Canadian rock band Frozen Ghost in 1985, placing 5 songs in the Canadian top 40 over the following 5 years....Head Over Heels and Dream Come True are considered iconic love ballads here in the Great White North!!

...and the singer (Freddy Curci) and guitarist (Steve DeMarchi) went on to form Alias in 1990 with former members of Heart and had a big US hit with "More Than Words Can Say" and "I Need You Now". DeMarchi went on to play with the Cranberries (staring in 1996) and was a large part of Dolores O'Riordan's solo career.

Good ear, the letter "b" is not a consonant you want to use when singing because it makes your lips close and cuts off the flow of air. The letter P is the same, they are called "plosives". Singers try to not close the lips when singing words with Bs and Ps or substitute a similar consonant.

Sheriff was formed in the late 70's and released their album in '82. They broke up in late '84. Alias was formed in 1988.
