Remember that these older bands didn't use auto tune or anything like that. They were skilled at their vocals and instruments.

Lots of modern band can play and sing. I think people embellish the autotune way too much. It's like the invention of the electric guitar and saying well you know people played better on acoustic.

The crazy thing about Daryl Hall is that he doesn't warm up his voice. He just does this all naturally. He does a show called Daryls House. On a episode with John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls they discuss this. Great show if you want to learn about how music is created and it's history.

Yeah that was a great show, stumbled on it in the early YT days. The PBS home reno show This Old House went and visited Daryl's house and he talked about how he renovated that 1800's house over the years and gave a tour and talked about how he loved old houses and I think bought a smaller one, moved it and attached it to the original house giving him that studio space.

If you were ever a fan of "Daryl's House" (where he has famous musicians come to his home originally to jam), in on episode not too many years ago he is doing introductions with a famous musician and he says "And this is Sara." You should check out the Daryl's House episode with Cee Lo Green and listen to their version of "I Can't Go For That". I guarantee you that this performance will have you dancing in your chair. Daryl's House is a TV Show where Daryl Hall invites musicians over to his house and they just jam out and eat lunch. They will do a version of a Hall & Oates song and one of the artist who is currently there. They're all recorded live and sometimes they show pieces of them arranging the song. It's pretty freaken amazing tbh.

They were very important to the music of the 70's...much like the Chi-Lites. You know, we all feel...black, white, red, yellow, brown. We feel. This music has no color. They were major. Massive. Fantastic I the ‘70’s, blew up in the ‘80’s. Anything from the ‘80’s. They went from lots of straight soul to pop rock soul.

Love this song! I had a German Shepherd mix dog named Sara, who used to show her front teeth when I'd sing this to her! This song reminds me of the pretty girl that helped raised my kids. And, yes, Daryl Hall and John Oates are fantastic!

I heard this song for the first time in 1975. I was with my girlfriend and, every time the song came on the radio, I suddenly became invisible to her. I get a kick watching you lose your s**t over this song . . . you make it seem so natural and so right. Keep on keepin on . . . .

You’re interested in the subject matter. And you obviously have genuine great taste, not faking it for clicks. 😏 You’re funny. And let’s be honest, your voice is easy on the ears and you are easy on the eyes. What more could you ask for on KZbin?! 😉🤙🏼

As the We Are The World video was my first of yours, I must say…I agree with you about MJ. He was an eccentric, and a genius on the stage and in the studio! Just like the other MJ was a genius on the basketball court. Both as gifted as a human being can be, but also well-rehearsed and well-practiced to razor sharp precision. Feel like I just described Bruce Lee too. 😏 That’s enough rambling. 🤙🏼

Love your reactions. Love this song. Obscure fact: These Mr. Hall and Mr. Oats made great music together. They had a fallen out. Beef unpreparable. However, they would tour for years together. Get on stage, act like best friends. Then get off stage and never speak. Lessons we all should learn to work together.😎
