Toby played high school football for Moore High School in Oklahoma, and a year of the semi-pro ball for the Oklahoma Drillers. And although Toby has a fun side like this song, or the Trailerhood, Red Solo Cup, How do you like me now, he has some real substance. 9-11 anthem the Angry American was a rallying cry against terror. American soldiers are substantive classics. His trips to sing for Troops are many. As a veteran, I applaud this man.

A very serious side of Toby as the person and songwriter is found in his song about Wayman Tisdale in "Cryin' For Me - Wayman's Song." Good friends, Wayman was an All-American basketball player at Oklahoma, Olympic gold-medalist, NBA career, but loved being a jazz musician. Toby would often loan him his tour bus when he wasn't using it. This song is important to those of us in Oklahoma who knew Wayman, his family and especially in Tulsa as his dad was an icon in the church where Wayman grew up, playing the bass guitar left-handed (sparking a bit of lyric in the song). Toby also was golfing with Clint Eastwood who was having a birthday (88th) and starting his new movie "The Mule." Toby asked him how he keeps going and Clint told him he just gets up and doesn't let the Old Man in. Toby wrote that into a song, sent it to Clint, and it is the closing song in his movie "The Mule." This is my anthem nowadays. I used to be a legendary partier in this town. Literally people heard about my antics before ever meeting me. Every party or bar I went to, there'd be at least 2 people who would tell everyone I was the guy to party with and share tales of some wild night. I'm in my 5os now. I can't do the partying till 5am anymore. I've still got my old wild time friend that has settled down and married. We still go out occasionally and throw back a couple of beers, and reminisce. But damn, I got some memories.
