This is beautiful and, in my opinion, the best thing she's ever done. I know she's known as a rocker but the emotion she expresses here is tangible. 😎

Thanks Britt for this great reaction. Courtney will be 19 in July. Courtney wrote this song along with veteran songwriter/producer Kevin Bowe. She is totally independent now. You shouldn’t need to put a filter over her videos anymore because there will be no more copyright issues from a big music company. Anyway I love everything about this song Courtney will still sing a range of songs. Her latest “That Girl Don’t Live Here” is more of a jazzy rock or some have said swing type song. Also very unique. Anyway Britt thanks again. This was a great reaction.

@rickrhoden1 Жыл бұрын
@Bernard Coombs Yes, she has announced total independence, which is a courageous move. My personal opinion is that she will wind up with a much more favorable association with a smarter label so that she can get much wider exposure.

When I saw her on AGT five years ago, what I'm hearing from her today does not surprise me. Her voice was powerful and forward then, and now it's been refined with age. The lyrics are awesome.

This song brings me to tears every time, and every since I first heard it over a month ago it is an earworm. It is such a beautiful, emotional song that almost anyone can relate too. Yet, she wrote it with her writing partner that others have mentioned about her issues with the record label trying to change her, COVID issues, performance cancellations and other issues, yet the message is so universal. That is very clever writing indeed.

That was very enjoyable. Courtney will hopefully be a huge influence in music for many years to come. And maybe even influence her generation to be themselves and not care what the music industry wants them to be. She has bucked the system and so far is making a statement with her lyrics in a very smart subtle way.

The key to a long career in music is variety, change. If all the tracks on an album sound similar why have an album? If the new album sounds like the last why make a new one? This big change in style is what we want, what she needs for a career.

Wow, over 52 comments in just a few hours. You do have good, thoughtful reactions, Britt! By now you know Courtney was only 13-14 in most of her previous video covers; she's closing in on 19 now (July) and is just getting into her originals which she seems to be releasing every few weeks. She has been in somewhat of a hiatus for several years, but as you indicated she has continued to work hard on her craft. The pandemic, music labels, and other personal issues have been barriers that Courtney is finally breaking through. I look forward to more of your reactions to Courtney. You definitely need to react to her 2018 1/2 billion+ viewed AGT audition where she got her first big bump.

She was only 13 on AGT and is now 18. She's definitely "all growed up on us". If you want an original by her that's more upbeat, she just released a new single last week called "That Girl Don't Live Here". She really got screwed over by Simon and his record label. It has taken a few years just to pull herself out, ditch the labels and do all her own production, etc. They took the rights to her other songs with them, so these are just the beginning of what will become her new album

I thought I'd drop off another artist that I believe you've listened to singing with Dolly Parton. But She originally got her start with the band the Eagles. Here's a live performance "Linda Ronstadt with Eagles - Silver Threads and Golden Needles" I hope you have the day you deserve too

Great point. Not many people realize that. Or that both Glenn Frey & Don Henley got their start with Linda Ronstadt. And that she gave her blessing when they wanted to start their own band. She helped and supported them when they formed the Eagles.

Before that she was with Stone Pony who had a major hit with Different Drum, a song written by Mike Nesmith of The Monkees.

She was 15 on the live covers, but the group she signed the contract with did not allow her to do much for a couple of years, so she waited it out and now is an independent. All of her releases came in 2023 when she was out of her contract. She became independent at 18. She needs to be independent. She does have an experienced writer name Kevin Bowes helping her develop these great songs and solid music. As an independent, you will see a lot from her you may not expect.

"Hi Ren" by Ren, modern music(?), but no one will remember him and his songs in 2070. 😁 If anyone is interested in psychological songs or mental heath songs, check out "The Doors" and Jim Morrison, people still remember their songs after 50 years. She's probably concern about copyright infringements, and may not have know about Courtney being an independent in control of her own music videos. Courtney wants us to watch and I'm sure she would want reactors to watch her videos without filters. Unfortunately reactors have been hurt by copyright infringements and get blocks all to often. So they have to be concerned by strikes from KZbin and use filters.
