If you didn't know, there is a cleaning niche on KZbin, where people deep clean people's houses who struggle with ADHD, anxiety depression, hoarding etc. The videos are very satisfying to watch and will teach you a lot about how to clean when it is overwhelming and methods you can use to get things spotless and how to maintain the cleanliness so it doesn't get out of hand again.

I have a weird rug cleaning hack, but it only really works in the winter. You put the rug out in the snow, and then you cover it in snow, and then you use a broom to remove said layer of snow. With vigorous effort. I know, totally helpful advice for June!!!

When starting seeds indoors, you have to "harden" them to life outside. An hour the first day, a few hours the next few days, etc... even when moving to a greenhouse! You can do it and there's still time to do it again!

When transitioning plants from indoors to outdoors it needs to be done slowly. A good taper method is over about a week period. This is kinda the general I follow. Not exact always but I just try to ease them into hot weather. Day 1: outside in the morning or evening sun for an hour or 2. A little more time outside is fine as long as it's in the shade. Day 2&3- 2-4 hours during morning or eve. Same shade rules Day 4&5 -3-6 hours trying to avoid the hottest part of the day. If it's cold weather plans like kale I'd potentially leave them(or even just a few) outside overnight. Remembering to bring the inside for the middle of the day when it's hot. Day 6- outside most of the day except during hottest part of the day, can leave overnight Day 7- test leaving some plants outside during the hottest part of the day to make sure they are ready. If they are ready proceed to plant or leave outdoors by day 8 Replant seeds (whatever you are able to in the greenhouse), and what you aren't able to grab some little plants from a farmers market or hardware store! I lost plants one year and did this, and it was a good band-aid for the wounds of the fallen plants. Haha

The plants died of sunscald. You have to "harden off" seedlings, which is basically putting them out in the sunlight a little each day. You increase the time each day. Tons of beginner gardeners have this issue. Bite the bullet and go to a nursery (buy the pots that have 2 seedlings to get double value!).

7lbs in a month is great! I was working with a nutritionist who set me goal to 2kg a month (roughly 4.4lbs) because it's a slow lifestyle change that you have to get used to rather than a rapid crash diet that you stop the second you hit the target. We're so used to this mentality of "we have to lose weight quick" that doing it the slow healthy way can feel like it's not enough but 7lbs is suck an achievement!

I'm with you on the idea of making small life changes. I tried so many YT exercises regimens that I just ended up quitting. Trying force myself to exercise a shit ton to lose weight. After a while I just decided to focus on simply making myself feel better. And to do that I've started walking after work for around 20 minutes four times a week. That's helped my sciatica and hip pain. Then I cut back on ( not eliminate) fried foods / greasy take out. This has helped my heartburn and just make myself feel better (probably less bloating). And my last thing was actually to add a probiotic. That's really helped my gut health. Like I'm actually shocked at how much it helps (obviously in combo with reducing fried food).

Congrats on your anniversary! One thing my hubby and I did to change up our eating plan was to add green smoothies in the morning. We use Dr. Brooke Goldner's green smoothie which is Kale and/or Spinach, 1/2 cup flax seeds, bananas, frozen pineapple, filtered water, up to the level of the greens, ice cubes and a Vitamix because any other blender won't cut it (the Kale LOL). It is very filling and she calls it hypernurishing in the morning, then eat as you are eating, but your body is getting in lots of good things and it is surprisingly not bad and very filling and gives lots of energy.

And yes to hardening off your plants. But also, you don't need the greenhouse if you aren't dipping below freezing at night. I don't know if you are or not. I live in central Texas, so I have no experience gardening somewhere that doesn't have a 10 month summer. Cold temps are not my gardening challenge. And yes to getting some starts from a nursery.

It's amazing how fast seedlings can just die off! I've been growing for years and still do this regularly. If you can afford it, get yourself some already started off plants from the garden centre and try again - you can still learn lots about growing them on from those early stages. I've had to do this with all my tomato plants this year (UK based) as it's just been so wet and rainy.

Easiest way to clean a rug, (if you can) wait until winter and a good layer of snow. Lay the rug upside down in the snow and walk around on it. Then take it inside. You would be surprised how well this works and best part, it's not wet because the snow won't melt (if it's cold enough but I bet it is if you have snow on the ground). Also, you should've just beaten the rug with a carpet whip and that too would suffice most of the times (unless you have a large stain in it)

👌👍💯 I'm loving what you said the weight loss approach that you've developed! Like what you said about your mindset around weight loss and measurements and embracing a consistent effort towards having improved health. That resonates for sure! 😍 I'm finding the same, and I'm particularly aware that for me, that approach is kindest and is the best balance for my body but also my mind, and instead of feeling some sort of internal fight between the two, it's the best level of support for them both (and I have far less stress around food stresses/desires etc).😊 I also love the marble idea! It's a psychological step away from the emotions of the whole weight loss thing, and allows an objective approach rather than the emotional one we often start from 😊

We used to wash our hand made rugs too. The process was to place it on flat floor make it wet , scrub it with a brush on your hands and knees, take a squeegee and push out the soap, hose it down and squeeze out the water then repeat it several times until you feel like all the soap is out and then leave it in a sunny place to dry for a few days. The stink you are smelling is from it being damp too long. You can always wash it again and get rid of the smell.

So here's the thing, weight loss SHOULD be slow and steady. Why? Because it means you've reached an equilibrium. It means you're in a place where you're living a sustainable existence and putting in just that bit more to push you into calorie deficit. So when you carve out the shape you're aiming for, all you need to do is ease up ever so slightly and you're good! No more yoyoing, no more guilt over treats, no more abandoning everything the moment you hit a goal (or miss it!). There's nothing to abandon, no diet to stick to, no grind you just have to push through for another six weeks. It's just your life, continuing as it was, with the habits and routines you've built in, and maybe one less set of reps in your morning workout. You're golden, sweetie!

Chicken dander is massive! You can brood them inside your coop with a couple of heat lamps hung from the ceiling. (Enough heat lamps, so they will easily be able to fit under them without crowding, so they don't pile on top of each other and smother each other) And set the lights up with enough space so they can easily move away from under the lamps if they feel too hot. There are some great YT vids showing this.(ie older Lumnah Acres)

The marbles idea makes sense, kinda more discreet way to keep track. When my dad was a kid he lost a bet with his older sister & consequently lost his marbles. But just the other week we had a family gathering & she gave half of them back 😆 seeing you mention marbles, I thought it was coincidental & funny so had to share 😄

My mom is a gardener! You have to air out a greenhouse to control the temperature ♥️ and close it at night to keep in the heat at night. Water in the evening so all the water doesn't evaporate ♥️

We had a dog have an accident on a large rug. We took it to the self car wash. They have strong clips that you can hang car mats on. We used the car wash products and it turned out fine. Down side - you kind of need a pick up truck to transport the rug.

I second taking the rug to get cleaned. There is a rug cleaning company I take my rugs to once or twice a year. Also, watch the rug cleaning videos. They have some sort of asmr(?) effect on me.

Bea, if you don't have a wet vac to suck the water out of the fibers before laying it in the sun, it will have that musty smell. To save it send it to a rug cleaning service. Or, get a Ruggable rug. They are not as thick as a regular rug and require a pad, but when we had dogs it was invaluable because you can vacuum it, steam clean it and wash it periodically in a standard washing machine (although truth be told I took it to the giant machine at the laundrymat) and put it in a regular clothes dryer. Game changer! I think there are other companies now that make these washable rugs too so a little Google time may be in order. Maybe Ruggable will comp you one to try it out or for an endorsement? BTW, changing your furnace and duct filters once a month will help with the dust. Ask me how I learned that tidbit😏.

Your weight loss method is essentially how I’ve been handling my own weight loss. The thing is, this is all a lifestyle change. Assuming we are all going to live a really long time, losing weight and making it sustainable shouldn’t be accomplished within months or even a year in my opinion. I think the healthiest way is to lose weight extra slow, even if it’s like less than a pound a month. As long as you’re making progress, you’re successful. And you got your whole life ahead of you so why rush at all?

Chickens have dander for sure! Please don't give up gardening. I promise those aren't the last plants you'll kill. I've been gardening for 5 years...still kill plants lol. I promise you any good seasoned gardener has killed way more plants than you think!
