Heck yes guys love it. It's so nice when you guys do these for us. I will always use mechanical broadheads love what they do. I use Flying Arrow Archery the Kratos it's a 2 blade 2" hole. If you guys get a chance check them out. Amazing damage they do to the animals. Thanks Brain and Brad keep it up. LETS GO

How close are the megameat broad heads hitting vs field points at long range? At say 90yards do they have more drop? Thank you for your time, I love all your videos!

They shoot really well. I have not yet shot them out past 80 yards.

I drew an Utah archery elk tag and have contemplated changing my setup from a two blade double bevel that I have killed elk with in the past to the mega meat or dead meat instead. There are so many pros and cons. Any advice would be great! Can wait for future updates.
@bowdude337 ай бұрын
Don’t do it brother. Change vanes to hybrid Hunter or Max Hunter if you want good long range fixed blade flight. Mechanicals work until they don’t it’s not worth the risk on an animal

@@bowdude33 Everything works until it doesn't. People lose animals with fixed blades.

I love the G5 mechanicals!

I was talking to Tim Burnett about mechanicals and he mentioned the G5. Said the same thing about the damage. I've killed a bunch of animals with Rage Hypos but I might give these a try this year.

What is the arrow velocity that gives you the trajectory that is the most forgiving for you?
@GrittyGearAndPodcast7 ай бұрын
I try to stay around 280fps. That seems to work well for me, but it varies from bow to bow. Some do better with a lighter and faster setup and others do better with a heavy foc arrow. 280fps is usually my starting point though.
@mikefeaster88274 ай бұрын
Used the Mega meats to kill 3 whitetails, absolutely devastating!! They will be in the quiver again this year..
@johnb22517 ай бұрын
Will you be using the same arrow setup on elk as you did that bear? What insert weight are you using with the extreme velocities?
@GrittyGearAndPodcast7 ай бұрын
I will be shooting a little heavier setup for elk. This setup was a total of around 412gr at 310fps. I will be using around a 450gr arrow setup for elk that is shooting around mid 280fps.

Do you guys notice if the G5 practice tips fly similar to the broadheads? I find them to be a little gimmicky and am hesitant to buy them.

In my experience, the practice tips fly the same as the broadheads. So far, the broadheads have performed flawlessly.

What about elk frontals?
@GrittyGearAndPodcast7 ай бұрын
They can be the most effective lethal shot. Ever situation is different. I wouldn’t take a frontal past 20 yards though. Even though I’m hesitant to take it.

If you haven't looked him up. John lusk does a good job in my opinion on testing broad heads. Look up what he does. I am not saying the mega meat isn't successful but in most of the testing videos I've seen, I'm still concerned with the durability side.
@GrittyGearAndPodcast6 ай бұрын
Completely understandable. Durability is always a concern for us. After putting them through a few animals ourselves and discussing things with our friends who have used them a ton, our concern about the G5 is becoming less and less. They have just proven themselves over and over again. Now I do think that a megameat wouldn't be the best option for an elk, but I am not apposed to using the Deadmeat on an elk.
@zakarybarclay9996 ай бұрын
I won't try any 2 inch cut on a elk or similar animal. Maybe with a crossbow. Gonna use some old slick trick razor cut I have for my first elk hunt this year. Thanks again for taking us on adventures and being honest about why you choose the gear and methods you use.

G5’s marketing push lately has been insane.
@GrittyGearAndPodcast7 ай бұрын
I think this is amusing. I have nothing to do with G5. I bought these broadheads. I’m also chronically offline so I’m absolutely oblivious to any of the marketing you’re talking about. Makes me wonder whether you’re experiencing a “marketing push” or just the effects of a damn good product getting some honest appreciation. I’m not chasing any dollars here-I’m just impressed with the product.

This is so commercially driven.
@GrittyGearAndPodcast7 ай бұрын
No, it’s really not. I’m not paid if you use a Mega Meat broadhead, or a Valkyrie or an Ironwill. I’m not paid if you shoot the same bow as me or if you shoot G5 arrows or Victory or Black Eagle, etc. I am sharing what I’m using and what my experience is. The things I’m paid for are the discounts codes I promote. There’s a line between a podcast guy sharing his equipment knowledge and a podcast guy saying whatever he can to make a buck. I’m not motivated by money-if I was all about the money I would have sponsors instead of a commission-based income. With commissions comes the freedom to use whatever I want-no exclusivity requirements-I’m rare that way. Nah, my platform is not commercially driven-I’m driven by meaning; by empowering and inspiring others-not by money. Money is a the by-product of a passion I pursue-money is not the goal.
